Official E3 2016 thread.

Looks like we might be getting a remastered version of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim before VI according to the latest E3 rumour mill.

I'm all for the remasters as long as future iterations of the consoles stick to x86 and are fully backward compatible. What we don't want is a continual remastering of games for each new gen. I hope this is just a one-off to get unplayable games (if you only have current gen systems) playable again. Obviously with MS getting BC working on Xbone, this is negated somewhat but PS4 doesn't have that option for PS3 titles apart from PSnow which should be free with PS+ frankly.

AAA titles are expensive, if the demand for remasters and sequels is there (which it obviously is), they are going to cater for it.

There's still plenty of big guns that are producing big-budget AAA new IP (Overwatch, The Division, etc.), and more indie titles cutting their own path than ever before.

We really need to use a different word than 'remaster' when talking about Bethesda :p

'rebodge' seems to fit better...

Judging by how crap Fallout 4 looks, I don't hold out any hope at all, in the case of Skyrim it will probably just be exactly the same game.

I heard the whole mod system though is a lot better than expected - wonder if any of those provide any graphical improvements (I think some do)? Im trying to remember if they actually showed the Skyrim remaster as it well known that it existed as part of FO4s development.

Oh yeah GAF be crazy - explains my negativity when tolerating so much stupid creativity...

Overall build quality. Production costs for the Super Slim were cheaper yet the price remained the same as regular slim, i.e. no real benefit to the consumer. If I wanted to get a PS3 for cheap, my best bet was an older model 2nd-hand. Which of course I did. I'm not sure about the hard drive space though, I get the feeling the Super Slim got a smaller hard drive for the entry level version, but I may be wrong on that. Doesn't matter too much since one can install a 2.5" hard drive in there, same as PS4.

Anyhow, looks like we're gunna see Watch Dogs 2 at E3. I was excited for it before it came out, but it released a bit of a disappointment so I never bought it. LEt's hope Watch Dogs 2 doesn't follow suite.

I think there were two models, one with the 12GB onboard SSD and the other came with 500GB. However, the PS3 Super Slim is really quiet, apart from the disc loading but films are very quiet on it apart from game loading. Game loading seems to really clunk the blu-ray mechanisms versus blu-ray films and dvd.

"Next Generation Gaming" what it actually means is playing last generations games how they should have been first time round.

Funny isn't it. Thinking back to 2007/8/9 all the hype and excitement for 1080p gaming. Next gen, next gen, next gen.

The trend to keep producing remasters/ never ending sequels says a lot about what is wrong with the state of the gaming industry in my opinion.

No different to Hollywood and the music industry? Nearly everyone is followers. Trending.

BD/DVD films are recognised and spun at lower speed than what game BDs do AFAIK - probably why they were louder

EAs playable titles at E3:

Battlefield 1
Titanfall 2 - I suspect this might be launching earlier than all its competitors, playable at E3 is a good sign considering how little we know
FIFA 17
Madden NFL 17
NHL 17

No Mass Effect, though perhaps not something to be a playable demo - I guess we will get confirmation when in 2017 it launches. Hoping for some (good) Star Wars games to be shown
