Having seen the ridiculous prices of the 1070 (many are over £400) are any considering a 1080 now instead?

All of these GPU's are overpriced right now. It's just a brand new product and many re-sellers are forcing a premium on the overall cost because they can (mostly related to demand and poor availability). Shame on them!

Bide your time you'll get a deal ... but yes I had already decided that I was worth the extra for 1080 over a 1070 to replace my aging 780.

I'm just deciding which one to go for!?

I was tempted, but the 1080 is just as bad. I'd end up spending £170-200 more for what, 15-20FPS? Meh :(
A lot of people would consider an extra 15-20fps for £200 a pretty decent deal.

Agreed the 1080 still costs a crazy amount, but if you were in need of a good upgrade, I'd say the 1080 represents reasonable value compared to the 1070.

It's made me much more interested about June 29th, won't be nearly as fast but a 480 would be a good upgrade from what I have at a much more sensible price.

1070 SLI was an option for me, but £800+ just for games, nah..too old and sensible for that kind of nonsense thesedays, so I'll hang on with my two 970's until the 1080Ti lands and see what the pricing landscape looks like then.

"Something is overpriced at £400 so I'm going to be buy £600 of something overpriced instead"

You just got upsold and played right into their hands, keep your money until the end of month and see what AMD release, it might drive the prices down

A fool and his money .....

Rather than form an orderly queue at the milking sheds, sit on your wallets for a bit and wait. If the demand isn't there, supply will go up, prices will come down.

I'm more interested in the RX480 now. I find the prices of the 1070 and 1080 quite shocking at the moment. I've no doubt they'll come down but whether they'll come down to an acceptable price point (for me) is another matter altogether.
