I believe that in fact says PoE-PD, which refers to Power over Ethernet, AKA "Powered Devices" functionality. Devices are increasingly making use of this technology so that they can be installed in places that don't have mains electricity present. Switches, wireless access points and IP cameras are the ones you'll probably run in to most. If you don't use anything else that requires or pushes out PoE, I'd ignore it and treat it like a normal switch port

Judging by your original post you're looking at devices that cost far more than you need to spend. You just want a basic unmanaged Gigabit switch (usually under £20).
