For the FE owners, how does the fan perform out of the box? Is the throttling a problem when you leave the fan at stock settings? What software are you using to change fan speeds.

that's the exact testing im doing right now
i tested with my fan profile setting first so at
80c its at 65% (10% more other stock)

Mine

max temp 78C
average 77C
boost clock
1840mhz max
average is 1809Mhz
Min 1790Mhz

Default

already 3 Minutes in to the Witcher 3
Average temp 82C
Max Temp 83C
Default fan:
Min Clock 1603Mhz @ 82C
Average (only over few minutes remember) 1780Mhz
Max Clock 1809Mhz

So after very quick testing you loose a good 100mhz using stock profile

if you don't wear headphones it sounds little loud a definate whoosh noise but not an annoying whoosh

I didn't use it on default fan I like keeping my cards as cool as possible from the get go to, i used a custom 1:1 fan profile using MSI afterburner 4.3.0 beta 4, maxes around 70deg. The FE fan is very quiet imo.

It makes me happy to see people are getting their aftermarket cooler version! Now where's mine :o

I also like how Asus, MSI and who else make blower style cards other then reference design coolers. It's good for those who want that type of cooling but have no use for the reference cooler scheme, for example.

Tbf Fear, the reference nVidia cooler is really rather good this time around! They've obviously put some thought into it this time round, what with charging more for it and all!! :D

Good bloody job tbh :p

It does not throttle below base speeds, but boost drops off abit with stock fan profile, but with stock fan profile its still very very quiet.

A good balance I have found is using MSI afterburner (EVGA Precision OCX seems abit flaky to me) in which you can set up a fan profile manually. For me it tops out at 60% which is good enough to maintain 2000 mhz boost in SLI config (so including heat from bottom card going into top). 60% fan may sound loud but the FE cards is actually fairly quiet, at least compared to TX reference cooler, so its not notifiable really

Happy you enjoy your purchase but it looks like quite a few FE purchases have been made through sheer impatience (understandable if you have time booked off for example) to wait for the aftermarket versions which are much more capable of holding holding their higher boost clocks on auto fan settings.

Have to say not seen many review's where the aftermarket out clocks the FE either. Certainly not worth the waiting pain I enjoy reading in the other thread, people are pulling their hair out while I'm enjoying mine.

x2

how do u think of it on ur x34? personally I think its a perfect match :D

It says for out the box boost on the gigabyte is 1936mhz and 10400 MHz on that same article. I expect 2.3 ghz is a cherry picked chip in a cherry picked scenario like nvidia did at thier showcase. Hope to be proven wrong but given the OC we have seen on all 1080s to date I doubt it.
