Anton Yelchin - New Chekov RIP

So he thought he had put the car into park, hadn't.... it rolls down his own drive and crushes him against his own mailbox.

Where was the handbreak in all this?

No one quite knows anything yet but handbrakes are known to fail and there's also this. The car weighs over two tonnes in its lightest configuration and unfortunately it's also possible that it wasn't instant for him, the coroner will establish the facts. There's a TMZ link with the photo of a drive and the bent gate but I already feel like I'm speculating enough.

Either way a very tragic death and certainly a freak accident, talented and hardworking actor who looked to have a fantastic future.

It's very common for people with automatics to not bother with the handbrake. I only ever use mine if I'm parked on a slope.

put it on PARK will lock the gearbox so it doesn't move

so he left the gear on neutral so its not a fault............
