Here's the story, in short:

I sold an expensive dell laptop and sent it off by DPD NEXT DAY. It got delivered and signed for as per tracking information however there is no signature on the tracking page. Tracking only shows that x parcel was delivered and signed for by x at x time.

The buyer a few days after receipt filed a "item not received" claim with ebay. Ebay is asking me to provide proof of delivery to the correct address and signature so that I can win the claim.

I have sent to ebay the following: 1) actual postage label I put on the parcel showing clearly the delivery address 2) DPD's receipt card with tracking that you get when you drop off a parcel 3) purchase receipt of the courier service as it came from parcel2go.com and yet ebay still tells me the following:

I quote their e-mail

" We've received the tracking information, however, the documentation doesn't show where this parcel was delivered to. ????????????????????????????

To help resolve this, We kindly ask for official documentation wherein the signature of the receipt of this item was indicated please upload your documentation, containing the delivery address from the courier company you used, at the link below within. ''

Do DPD provide the signature on the tracking page? if not where would I find it?

I'm sure it's in the hands of dpd as they have handed it over and got the signature, get hold of dpd and find out where you stand with the signature.

Dpd have likley left it in a safe space and its been nicked or the buyer is saying he never got it eithereay.

Dpd are the people you're going to have to chase

I didn't pay for insurance though. On the other hand the item wasn't lost in transit or damaged. DPD screwed up most likely.

Do you think DPD would cover me provided I can bring evidence of what was in the box and its value?

Why would you send an expensive item and not have the full value covered?

Because am an idiot?

I never had problems with couriers and didn't expect this to happen.

I am hoping that I still have a chance to receive compensation. DPD insurance covers against loss in transit or damage. Neither is the case now. Item was delivered but DPD mishandled it. I may have a legal case!

The number one rule for selling on ebay is to fully cover yourself and send an item of value fully insured. No matter how good you think the courier is, they will eventually make an error or someone will try and scam you given the chance.

If dpd cannot provide a pod, then get proof from them that they have delivered to that address. Ebay will refund the buyer if there is no pod and will either unfreeze your money or tell you to speak to the courier to claim compensation.

But seriously you sent a laptop not insured?

Well I guess you could argue if the buyer hasn't received it then it is lost in transit as it hasn't reached the buyer...

Pain in the arse!

Quick google gives little clue but I imagine you would be able to get a copy of the signature or at least a reference number to pass onto ebay.

Well, buyer didn't receive it is not the same as "not delivered" and tracking shows delivered and DPD confirmed to me that the parcel was delivered to the correct address. Clearly this is not a case of "it hasn't reached the buyer". It reached his house!

Note that just because it's listed as being delivered doesn't always mean it's gone to the right place.

I've had delivery drivers before try to give me a parcel for 22 XYZ street when I live at 22 ABC street and the like. It'll still be on their lists as delivered even if it went to the wrong place.

Surely it's dpds fault for not getting a signature. It was delivered.do you need insurance to cover their own drivers shear lazyNess of incompetence?

Just so you are aware, it's highly likely DPD will knock you back. You booked this through Parcel2Go - so you are P2Gs customer not DPDs, so it's them you need to be dealing with. Good luck with that!

Yeah good luck either way hope you get it sorted.

I just sent a 300 quid item through the post. At least I trust the buyer as I know them. But it still scares me.

Looks like you are in luck,

"All consignments are covered free of charge for loss or damage for up to a maximum of £50 per consignment (not per box)."

I'm sure it will be classed as lost, so you get £50 back....

unless you paid for insurance

£100 £5 (min)
£200 £5 (min)
£400 £8
£600 £12
£800 £16
£1000 £20
£2000 £40
