The GeForce GTX 1080 Is The Best Selling High-End Card Ever Released – AIBs Confirm

To be fair, we've been waiting for big leaps in the GPU space for a while, and this new generation is bringing those leaps.

From Nvidia yes, AMD no :D

Doesn't matter about the FEs still being stock, as everyones buying the much better and cheaper customs, which some wont get for weeks, if not months yet, so those wont be in the owners thread for a while, as those orders have piled in, and are still piling in now.

I understand not everyone who buys post on a fourm. But these things do happen and to what is being said has sold vs the honour thread it would be much bigger than 60 people.

Well you can look at the Fury X roll of honour, and I'm sure that card sold a lot more than the thread would suggest.
a lot of people simply don't care about troh

No doubt it's a cracking seller, awaits it toppling 970 on Steam chart...

No one else got the 'cheapest in uk' email?.....

You don't drop the price if it's a sell out.;):p

Tbf I really like the FE, best reference card I've ever had!

But yes, a really good custom card is going to be better if you have any patience. Unlike me :p

Even if they didn't join it would still be more than 60, Gibbo said he sold 1000 already?

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.

You'll also see the same names posting in most graphic card threads, giving you the impression of high volume. In reality I wonder if it's even more than the same 50-60 people posting the same nonsense over and over again.

Look Gibbo has said he has sold a 1000 in the first month and he has two to three times the stock of other major etailers in europe.

I think he also said he had pre sold up to 10,000

So back to the article. On those numbers I would tend to agree the 1080 is the best selling card based on pre orders.

On actual numbers shipped - no way. Gibbo has confirmed he has a 1000 480s in stock for launch day and he expects to ship at least 500 of them on that first day. Thats half of what ocuk have managed to ship 1080's in a month. On that basis 480s will overtake 1080s within a week.

Gibbo said they have shipped 1000 1080's already...and he said that a few days a go so 3 weeks from launch.

What's the percentage of people who buy a 1080 at overclockers vs the people who want to be on TROH...very low I would think.

Most want to play with their cards, not win a piddling contest with people they don't know or who won't know them.

Those lot gives me the impression that the same photos quickly followed on Facebook, Twitter, InstaNonsense, whatever else people use.

Indeed. The vast majority of people who have bought one probably aren't members of the forum or don't even realise it exists.

So basically NVidia have just been given the green light to charge whatever the **** they want, as long as the card has more performance than the previous one. How long before the top end card is £600 at launch? Then £700? The 1080ti will likely be £700, maybe even £800 for factory OC top-bin efforts.

AMD badly need to come out with something competitive. If only to keep NVidia honest rather than to save themselves.

To be fair I think if people are prepared to pre-order a 1080 they're probably gonna continue to buy one, even if they cancel their orders here at OCUK. Chances are the majority will go to another retailer and still buy a 1080, while a minority will have second thoughts and cancel.

If you're willing to pre-order for £600, you've made up 95% of your mind already.
