I'm in a predicament situation here, basically I have a 1080 FTW on order in which I paid £597 for it, now looking at my bank account bearing in mind I'm going on holiday in August and could do with not spending so much on a GPU, so I'm looking at something like a 1070 or used 980 Ti as I've had one before and it done pretty well on my 4k monitor though the 6gb Vram was limiting me in some situations so the 8gb would really help as well as the extra £200 in my back pocket. what would you do stick it out with the 1080 and go on holiday with less cash or just grab a 1070 have fun with it and wait for big daddy pascal? cheers :)

Depends on where you're going for holiday. Generally what you can do with £200 abroad isn't much unless you're very familiar with the locale. On the other hand, that £200 that goes into the GPU will be there for a long time and likely you'll see way more value out of it (just in terms of how many hours you'll benefit from extra performance).

On the other hand, I'd rather try to get two used 980 ti's for £600-650 rather than a 1080. It's tough but doable, and you don't have to buy both at once either...

I sold a 980Ti and I'm still going for a 1070: I'm not moving from my monitor until there's a 37'+ 21/9, and the 1080 at 1440p 60hz would be a waste.

So yeah, if you aren't above 1440/60hz I would be happy with a 1070.

Thing is neither are in stock...

thank you guys! I had a 980 Ti and it done me fine for 4k I just wanted a little more oomph so sold my Ti for £500 I got excited and quickly pre-ordered a FTW 1080 and now thinking about it £600 is a lot of money when at the moment I haven't got it, and with the 1070 offering 980 Ti performance maybe 5% slower at worst when both have a good overclock on them for the sake of £200 that could benefit me I might as well go 1070 route save up and grab the next Titan card

Neither, I would grab a second hand 980ti, have £300 in my pocket and wait until big pascal. Then sell the 980ti.

Well, that's what I would do anyway.

My advice would be to spend more time on something like Martin Lewis' website, rather than this one.

;)

haha that did give me a good chuckle I have to admit -_- I've decided sod it cancel my order on the FTW and pick up the strix 980 Ti for £359 as I've had a Ti before and for now it'll definitely see me through till big pascal and I'll have £240 in my back pocket :D

Or just go on holiday then when your back save up for a 1080? By that time they might either be in stock more often and perhaps a few quid cheaper.
