I recently updated my Adobe lightroom. It is incompatible with vista.

I'm not fussed which version of Windows to upgrade to. What is the easiest and cheapest way of doing this?

I don't want a fresh install or lose my data.

Thanks

Ah what a pain.
If I go for a fresh install and back my data all I need is a basic version of Windows 7? No upgrade version etc.

Put on disc and it'll wipe my data and do fresh install?

Can I just clarify. If I went to clean install.

I reboot with disk and load via bios. It will install whilst formatting my data?
Might just go that route rather than upgrade route.
Can pick up windows 7 for £20

Yes,
Go into to the BIOS and select boot devices/boot order, make sure the CD/DVD is set as the first boot device.

A fresh install of Win7 will wipe ALL current data from your C:\ drive, MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP ANYTHING ON THAT DRIVE BEFORE YOU START THE INSTALL PROCESS

As it stands at the moment, it wouldn't matter if you picked up Windows 7 for £0. MS has made it completely useless by making it nearly impossible to run Win Update. It's even worse if you are trying to run update from a fresh install.
