I don't know one company that votes in change with such a 50/50 system given you already know that over 20% of the public won't vote and are therefore happy with status quo.

That's not the case though, people who don't vote simply don't care, that's why the older generations turned out to vote while a large percentage of the young stayed in all day and posted on Tumblr and Twitter instead.

I want to laugh because its true but I do kind of sympathise towards the generation which will live to see the unknown full blown outcome of this decision.

The weakening of the pound isn't necessarily a bad thing, provided that other parts of the economy remain strong. It'll boost exports and effectively reduce the burden of our debt. There's a reason why many countries have spent the past few years trying to devalue their currency.

The only reason Germany is doing well is the weak Euro because of the counter balance of the poorer nations, the poor the nations get the bigger the surplus for Germany.

75% of 18-25yrs voted to remain. 36% voted...

You hear all the moaning but they had their chance and that is what they think of the country. Personally older people fought for freedom and democracy so I think they should get 2 votes....

"Think of the kids" mostly spoken by people whose children/chavs are destroying ethics in this country...

What's interesting with these stats though is that if you interpolate to 100% turnout, ie multiply the 18-25 voted by 2.8 etc... You discover the the country actually wants to Remain, just the survey/vote wasn't representative as different demographics we're polled evenly.

Good post. It was the older generation here who saved the younger generation from remaining in the EU death trap. The 'millennials' should be eternally grateful.

If the correct question had been asked (Remain, all in, including Euro or Leave), we would be having very a different conversation in my opinion.

The plan always appeared to be heading USA style anyway, United States of Europe with central government not in London.

As a country, we have never embraced that scenario (Not London and no Pound ) and it would appear we never will.

It is a scary prospect tbh. I'd rather take the hit now and get out before that is forced on us. The hipsters and ultra-lefties would sleepwalk us in to it.

What happens if decades down the line we want to leave it? They send their EU army to put us in our place knowing we can't fight back any more?

not really, it is just a bit too early to tell.

maybe it is buoyed by the Glastonbury returnees ;) I'm sure the OCUK demographic is skewed in that sense.

yes really... there are over a thousand votes cast now

either people are telling porkies or a whole bunch of remain voters have decided not to vote in this poll

there were several other polls re: brexit on here all of which showed a lead for leave...

This millennial and many he knows (apparently 75% who could be bothered apparently) think it's a dumb idea. Maby we were grateful in an ever increasing globalised world to be part of something bigger and have more opportunity then go into isolation mode and break up the county we have.

Ohhhh well. Gut feeling is in few generations we will be back in the EU, this time with less of the perks we have now :)

that guy is clutching at straws

'one thing that could happen for example is if we saw a snap election...'

why on earth is anyone going to call a snap election now, it would be way too risky - both Johnson and May have already stated they won't so that would seem to be a non starter

as for the SNP somehow blocking or holding it up based on some interpretation of them having to approve constitutional changes I really don't see that happening - at least the Glasgow Uni law professor interviewed the other day when that was a news story was adamant that Sturgeon was wrong in her claim that she could veto it

Its quite amazing how that thought process to even ask works

ps3ud0

it is a valid point - some people actively chose not to vote because they were undecided - it would be interesting to see how many of them would chose to vote if offered a second choice, and what that choice would be + how many would chose to abstain a second time

at the moment this ocuk poll doesn't give that figure but a real poll does - that is a slight flaw and a valid one to highlight

(not that this poll isn't also flawed for other reasons though...)
