** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Anyone waiting for a strix OC, Reddit user reckons Asus have abandoned making them altogether due to too high RMA rate from unsustainable clock rates:

You didn't read that very well did you? :p

This is a misunderstanding from our side, and it is not the truth. It was an assumtion based on no deliveries. ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 OC is in production and delivery is only limited at this moment. We regret the misunderstanding and look forward to offer our customers the graphic card.

How could they have an RMA rate when they have hardly shipped any.

Do not believe everything you read, if they abandon than it would be due to yield to low and they would re-vise clock speeds.

I shall ask them if any truth in this, but only last week all seemed well.

I'm the proud owner of a new MSI Gaming X.

WOW. My goodness. Coming from a 570 SLI I can't even begin to express how insanely powerful this card is. The Witcher 3 used to make the room sound like it had a jet firing off somewhere, but with this 1080, max settings at 1440p, 60 FPS about 95% utilisation at ~1900MHz, temps around 65-70DC and the fans are as good as inaudible - 44% (may be biased coming from jet engine 570s). I played BF4 and the fans didn't even come on for the first 15 mins at max settings because it was barely utilising the card. Absolutely breathtaking. Worth every penny. Here I come, gaming!!

I too saw that reddit post about the strix. Who knows whats going on? There's got to be a reason behind the extremely low stock sent out and lack of any solid info about release. Like many i've been waiting for a month and this issue had held up delivery of my new system. Its ironic that the majority of tech reviews on YT and most sites i've seen have reviewed the card - more so than another AIB. Asus can manage to get their cards to reviewers, get glowing endorsements, ramp up sales with places like here then drip feed tiny quantities to their customers. Its fair to say i've lost the enthusiasm i had around placing the order at launch and would just like what i've paid for now. looking forward to some positive news over the next week or so.

Hopefully there's nothing to worry about as I'd hate to think what would happen to the queue for all other cards if there's suddenly a mass strixit...

Starting to wonder how crossfired 480's would compare to a 1080 as seems more likely to get one of those than the inno3d x4 1080 ive been waiting for :( , starting to regret the gsync monitor now.

I'm sticking with my order, and shall be most angry if it's not fulfilled.

Mainly because the price I ordered at £619.99 is completely unfeasible now for an equivalent product. And this is all assuming the Strix work as intended and are defect free.... that's another concern....

[Edit] Oh it is just a low stock issue... alrighty then. Still, hurry up Asus!

...i'll second this. At the POS for my new strix based system I ordered a X34A G sync monitor from OC. It arrived within a day and looks the biz. At £899 - pricey but was still cheapest in UK. So, a month on i still have no idea how this thing performs! and would be well outside the 14 days if I changed my mind now. Either way it seems i'm stuck and can only wait in hope this saga draws to a close soon.

I think you could quite legitimately argue that you couldnt use one without the other and therefore the timer doesnt start until they've fulfilled the contract to supply both, if you ordered them at the same time

Apologies, as you've probably had it up to here with these kind of questions: is the July 1st date quoted for the Strix still reliable? I'm about 100 in the queue and like most people would like to know whether to dampen my expectations. :)

Quote from StigBourne "Stock is still expected 01/07 and as long as we get a sufficient batch your order will ship, however it's 50/50 as I'm yet to know how many are on route to us."

I am number 30 in the queue. I hope you get your card, that will mean i definately get mine :D

I was toying with the idea but they've since put it up £50 :(
