Some good games :) Specially that one match we came back and beat them after 3 of their team tea bagged you lol

It was a ridiculous triple-bagging, I ran round the corner into a group of three of them, they destroyed me and then did some group bagging, nice!

I bagged one of them when I killed him 1 on 1 as payback. The best payback though was that we went on to win the match with some clutch kills in the last few seconds. Sweet karma!

We had a match last night where two of the opposing team were just waiting for us to come to them and then dancing. I almost felt sorry for shooting them in the face!

how is the game now? i got this on release and realy enjoyed playing it but, i got to a point where i felt i had to do the raids to progress and with the lack of raid matchmaking, i eventually stopped playing.

i have been checking back in on the game every now and then to see if the game has actually had matchmaking for raids implemented.

just now i searched in google my typical few words "destiny raid matchmaking" then found a recent-ish thread that talked about the game taking alternate ways of finding high-end end game loot.

this got me thinking about playing the game again. back around to the origonal reason why i stopped though, has matchmaking been applyed for raids? i needed them to get better loot and to progress my character.

what are these alternate ways to find the hign end end-game loot? the thread i found was about the april update, that was free. what was actually included , if there is a way to get the things needed to progress, i will start playing again.

i want to do the raids too but if they are still just about trolling the tower waiting for invites , i might avoid them but still play the game using these other options of progression.

this is for the forum members that still play the game, let me know what is going on, thanks (Y)

Quoting myself and Davetherave2 from the last page:

Just pasting what I put a couple pages back:

There are a few ways to get decent end game gear:

Raids - Will drop up to 320 in King's Fall NM and 335 in King's Fall HM.

Nightfall - Can drop gear up to 5 levels above your current equipped level. NF is LL 320 now so this may be beyond your light level (as in you will do no damage to the enemies).

Strikes - End strike loot can be better than what you already have and strike specific loot (RNG whether it will drop) will be + up to 5 greater than your current light level.

Crucible - Basically the same as strikes minus the specific loot. Crucible can be an excellent source for both strange coins and motes of light. Obviously your mileage will vary here as you will be playing against other players and may not enjoy the experience.

Iron Banner (Banana) As per crucible but with end game level loot. Assuming the drops / drop rates remain the same in the next IB you can expect to see loot drop at the end of games which is up to 5 levels above your current level. Loot pool will be what Lord Salad Man is selling for that week but it can be a decent way of getting infuse material. You will also get a 320 artefact at rank 3 and end game level loot at rank 5. Bear in mind you don't have to win or even go positive to get decent loot.

POE - As per strikes but minus the strike specific loot.

Challenge of the Elders - Basically a "arcade" version of POE where your goal is to hit point targets for that week. You will want to be greater than LL 310 before even starting this as the rounds are 310-320-330. You can go in at a lower light level but without help it will be a massive struggle (simply as you will do sod all damage to every enemy type). CoE is on a weekly refresh so the modifiers and rounds change each week.

Faction and Vanguard Rank up Packages Every time you rank up your Vanguard and Faction (FWC, New Monarchy, Dead Orbit) you will get a package which can contain a random piece of armour or weapon up to 5 levels higher than your current light level (maxes at 330). You can rank up both quickly by doing patrols and strikes (an din the case of factions by donating materials).

Decoding Engrams - Assuming you are below 310 light make sure to decode your engrams one at a time, equipping the decoded item if it is a higher level than what you are currently running (even if you won't use it). Engrams can decode into a higher light than your current light level so you want to be as high as possible every time you decode. This also goes for exotic engrams.

Other options:

Trials of Osiris - End game 3v3 competitive PVP. End game level loot but can be a right sweat fest.
Xur - Tentacle Face dude that brings with him 3 random exotic armour pieces and a exotic weapon (sometimes an engram) every Friday (through to Sunday reset). Everything he sells will be LL 280. He also sells Three of Coins which can be used to boost your chances of getting an exotic drop from the next Ultra you kill.

Not all of this will apply to you (you are no doubt aware of a few of the options for end game level gear) but it is a decent starting point.

As you haven't run the raid I would look at that first. I still need to do it on my ~307/8 Warlock (Xbone). Following that getting vanguard and faction rank up packages are easy, as is strike specific loot (as you are a high enough level to do Heroics from the get go). NF is now sadly off the cards until you get to ~305+.

Chroma is visual only. Can be applied to specific armour and weapons since the April update. You get some for free from the Sterling treasure (of which you can get three for free every week).

Cliff notes:

1) Light Level Max is now 335
2) Levelling is now "smarter" so less "grind'y" items should drop within a +5 range of current light level.
3) Challenge mode for the raids where you are guaranteed high level drops (e.g. 320/335 items depending on mode)
4) Chroma is just a cosmetic thing for the new armour sets introduced since April Update
5) Challenge of Elders & lvl 41 Prison of Elders drop decent gear for "quick" levelling.
6) Infusion is now easier. Rather than being 80% of infusion amount it is now 100%. e.g. if you infusion a 335 item into a 280 item it will be 335 at the end of it.
7) Sterling treasure have been introduced 3x a week (1 from postie, 1 from weekly crucible playlist and 1 from level 41 PoE)

If you want to run the raid again I'm sure we could carry you through at your current light level on normal mode (I know how painful it was back in the early days of doing this ;p) . If you get to 308 - 310 we could pull you through on a hard mode raid.

If you want to level up "quick" use a bunch of materials/motes into your faction and equip what ever gear you get before collecting the next package as that should get you levelled up pretty quickly. (Max level from these items is 330)

Hopefully this gives you an idea of the changes since you have been gone.

Hopefully this gives you an idea of the changes since you have been gone.

after looking back at my characters and swapping gear and weapons around, my main character is lvl28 and light lvl134. to give you a better idea of when I stopped playing , vault of glass was still considered new at the time.

this was all before any dlc came out, which I'm thinking of purchasing. where would you recommend I start again?

From level 28 you will be looking to complete all of the new story missions (Dark below onwards) to hit level 38+ and from then you can look to do strikes / crucible etc to get to a light level where you can start raiding. :)

Good laugh last night in IB. Some matches were frustrating but the banter made up for it.

Mrs want to run some games so will be on tonight. I will warn you all, she tends to swear quite a lot in pvp..... :D

Some good games last night, I apologise for the general grump that I was in, it's just so frustrating to fire a rocket at someone's face have them not die! That must be some high armour build! Haha.
