Brexit thread - what happens next

Not really. A backbench MP has very little power, the power comes from being elected by their peers to higher office, of which we have little more say than we do of EU presidents.

We will have to agree to disagree on this then.

So basically no real reason as such, just a dislike of the idea (not a slight, just observation). My gut feeling is I wouldn't want to be part of a superstate either, but on the other hand I can see the major benefits (and some negatives) of being part of one.

For me I'm not sold on the superstate but we are noting like there yet and we could have chosen to leave at any point if the super state became a reality and we didn't like it!

The global economy isn't going to go away anytime soon so I can only see closer and closer ties between countries round the world. Hopefully it will see a reduction in the tribalism, mistrust, greed and hatred that sees such a large proportion of the worlds population living in abject poverty while all the wealth is concentrated in so few. For now it seems the population of the UK aren't ready for that sort of thinking so lets close the doors and wait another 50 years before we see if we can get along better with out neighbours then!

No, because I don't want to live in a European super-state. I'm quite happy living in the UK England and Wales. At least they'd be being honest about it if they came up with the final constitution and gave European people the choice about whether they wanted to join it or not.

^ Fixed that for you.

I guess that means the property trusts will be able to sell their assets so they can pay back their investors after they unfreeze their funds again...

Ftse250 is also going back down, having not got anywhere near where it was before the vote and the £$ rate has dropped 2c already today. I guess in part due to increased talk about potential conservative leaders triggering a50.

Looks like the rollercoaster is just getting started again after a short break.

Now a third one (M&G Investments) has followed suit. Very worrying.

Shame (for you) that 17 million of your fellow countrymen and women didn't share your view then.

I cannot think of another occasion on which there has been a vote on taking away freedoms from our countrymen. It's quite a remarkable act.

Leaving the EU is taking away freedom now? I've literally never read anything so ridiculous :D
