missing IO shield

I have bought a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 Intel LGA1150 motherboard. However, I could not seem to find an IO shield.
What should I do?
Thanks.

Was it b grade or a brand new board? If it's b grade then you should figure on getting the bare board. Any accessories that come with it is a bonus. I have heard of some people contacting the manufacturer (MSI in your case) and blagging a new I/O shield. If it was a brand new board then contact the place it was purchased from.

Try contacting MSI. I lost my I/O shield for an obsolete ASRock board I had, contacted their CS in Netherlands expecting to have to buy one but they sent one out next day free of charge. :)

+1, normally a polite email to the manufacturer is all it takes - if they can sort you one out they normally will do (as it tends to be the little things that make the difference and encourage you to stick with a brand in the future).

Have had no problems sourcing replacement I/O shields, low profile brackets and even missing accessories in the past.

If you don't ask - you don't get!

thanks a lot for the replies.
I have contacted MSI, although I am not sure if I sent the query in the right place.
Just need to wait for a reply now.
I have tried ebay but no luck.

On my old case no matter what I did I could not get the MB in with the IO shield installed (and yes, it was the right way up lol).
After 20 mins I gave up and ripped it out.
Worked fine for 6 years and is still running fine although I no longer use that system/case.

Ideally you should use one, but it is not a necessity, your MB is grounded out on the MB risers in the case, all the IO shield offers is support for the ports and possibly helps to keep dust out.

When you see people running a bench test system they obviously do not use an IO shield :)

Some good customer service really.

Let's face it, I/O boards must cost them pennies to manufacturer, and it's likely their test bays probably won't even bother using them (testing outside of a case). So i suspect they'll always have these lying around.

That's a good result then. The one I received from ASRock came in a hand written envelope with a load of Dutch stamps attached, as if they went to the trouble of posting it at a post office/post box. I thought that was a nice touch :p

Came today. Not enough packaging...

That's really very good CS from MSI and at least it was packaged well enough to not get damaged in transit. It could have turned up in a bare envelope.
