I am a massive Wenger fan and a 'Wenger in' supporter BUT he's had YEARS to buy a world class striker. If he doesn't do it this year... then I am afraid, he IS the reason Arsenal are not progressing properly.

Miserly old man with archaic ideas which do not fit with modern day football.

The landscape changed inconceivably when Abramovich took over at Chelsea. A new area of billionaire bankrolled super clubs, over inflated prices for players etc... A 9/11 moment for football you could say. He hasn't adapted and thinks it's 1998-1999.

Even West Ham show more ambition in the transfer market than Arsenal do.

We are supposedly sitting on huge pots of gold. He needs to invest in the Club for god sake!

We need a centre back as well. Get rid of Mertesacker. You have to be ruthless sometimes.

Lets put it another way, if Mourinho took over at Arsenal he would make all the changes that Wenger currently isn't. The question has to be asked why!!

Wengers answer to our need for a striker....

That's another season down the pan then. However good Akpom may be we are not realistically going to challenge for the league relying on his goals.

Not a prolific scorer though

Not like Suarez, no, but he's only young. With better service, he'd get more chances.

They did a comparison of his stats tho and he has same stats as Giroud.

Don't see the issue here really, most important thing is he would be a different type of striker, Giroud isn't going to drop off the back line and run at the defence to open up space. We're lacking a front man that can do that.

Arsenal's model is similar to Ajax. Now Ajax where a big successful club at the top of the football pyramid in the 90's. They invested heavily in youth and had one of the best youth academies in the world.

This is Arsenal's CURRENT model. A fantastic principal. The problem is this is a 90's model of football.

Today's football is mostly (with exception) about fighting for the creme dela creme and paying those extortionate prices for the best!

This is a direct result of the billionaire bank rolled clubs in Europe and now the rest of the world. It's going to get much worse now that the Chinese league has more disposable money than we do.

Today's football is all about tight margins. Whats good for one club is not good for another.

A war of attrition. A bit like games which we say are 6 pointers. Thats what signing the top players is. Winning those six pointers. Arsenal need to show they CAN sign some of those 6 pointer players.

Ozil, Sanchez (Cech to some degree) these are six pointer signings so kudos to Wenger to getting this to happen. But we need more. City, United, Chelsea they are pulling off six pointers every year. We have to follow suit.

I think Xhaka will be a success for example. I think he falls in the 'six pointer' bracket. I.e a player wanted by the top clubs in Europe and we managed to nab him.

But we need to be ruthless with players who are not cutting it or who have severe flaws.

For example, do we need Mahrez? If so, GO AND GET HIM. Everyone else is leaving. I bet now that Kante is gone Vardy is thinking he shouldn't of turned down Arsenal after all.

Talk that Schmeichel is wanted now too.

Wenger IN baby!

Yeah, he needs to sign someone prolific up front and a CB and I am happy. At the very least a top CB.

Pogba to Manchester United then.

In transfer news that literally nobody else cares about; Sheffield Wednesday release Lewis Price (who has since signed for Rotherham). In total seriousness, off the top of my head, he is the single worst goalkeeper I have ever seen at Hillsborough (Home or Away).

Sounds like the Pogba deal is picking up pace now, reports in Italy of a bid having gone in and the deal is now being negotiated. €100m + 24m clauses.

Im not so sure now ive read so much sense on here and elsewhere.

Think i would go with getting 3-4 top players rather than spending the lot on 1 midfielder.

Everytime i wear a united top i get some randomer mention mourino or the pogba deal.
