ASUS To Raise Prices In The UK By 9%

And if your brand new "premium" ROG product does develop a fault even after a few days they'll round robin you someone else's tatty RMA replacement until they either don't have one available and are forced to send a new one or you give up.

The real joke is if you send a faulty component in and they find some vague mark on it they class it as "CID" (Customer Induced Damage) and void the warranty. Yet its fine and dandy for them to send out replacements that looks like they got booted around before sending it out to you.

Heard a few stories about the shoddy round robin thing but I have been lucky I guess. I did have an Asus Titan fail on me though and that took 6 weeks to get a replacement. Ohhh and my Asus RIVF Mobo's sound failed and I had to get a Sound card but other than that *touch wood* I have been lucky.

Ages back I had the round robin thing with a nForce 680 board - after getting 3 boards that were obviously other people's RMA jobbies I gave up and took a hammer to the last one. Awhile later they made a big deal about how they'd improved their RMA - so I RMA'd the board out of my media PC that was frequently booting up with 4bit colour only... and the exact same thing happened :|

I've not had a single Asus board personally that hasn't developed faults/died within a year and they are the highest number of failures for motherboards I've dealt with while doing IT support type stuff either for family/friends or as employment - I've had to RMA my ROG Swift and by some luck got a new one as a replacement after waiting weeks but that one is on its way out now and every single person I know with that monitor IRL has RMA'd atleast once and one poor guy is on his 4th or 5th.

I've been lucky with my Swift... still on the first one and it hasn't shown any issues yet at nearly 2 years old.

Agree...

The PSU for my 27" PG278Q ROG Swift TN died so I bought a new PSU from ebay for it to save the hassle and cost of an RMA

I ended up doing the same - atleast I know that part of it is rock solid now :S while I can't be sure yet I've a feeling the original PSU may have contributed or even been the cause of the failure - the 2 I've got my hands on including my own (albeit all from monitors that had started doing the self powering on thing so they probably aren't in their original state) have really shocking regulation with the voltage bouncing all over the place.

Hopefully if its made it that long it is ok - most that I'm aware of have died between 4 months and a year from purchase - my first died 1 year almost on the dot.

I'm not sure why... the Strix cooler is louder than EVGA, Zotac and MSI.

I seen one review of an end user with the Strix card, temps got upto 88c if he tried any form of overclocking and fans ramped up to jet levels. Yet they still claim "30% cooler and quieter" crap on the box of the card

Yup... I tried a Strix 970 and I didn't much like it.

It was paired with a Gigabyte G1 970... which was much better.

I then had a pair of EVGA ACX2.0 980s and that cooler was much better too.

lol - 3x more than I usually pay for mouse mats - wonder if its worth the money as I can't fault the Zowie I use.
I also bought a Large AUKEY Gaming Mouse Pad ( 900x400x4mm ) just to use while waiting for the asus one to come back in stock :o:o :o

So they put a premium on there products and there items like all others have been increasing due to pound/dollar ratio (they also have failed to deliver there 1080 DirectCU III OC Strix and then have tried to trick customers into taking a lesser card so that when stocks do arrive they can make even more profit).

So there answer to this is to put 9% more ontop of there already massive prices ? i am sorry but i can see this backfiring on them really quickly.

The lengths some companies will go to in order to squeeze the money out of us...
