This is it. Untied could get (have got) Kante/Matuidi and possibly Rakitic for the sort of money being talked about for Pogba, and would have a much better balanced midfield for it

Could they? What do you think Barca's reaction would be if Utd came calling having offered £100m for Pogba? This Pogba persuit whether they get him or not has set a precedent - £100m for Pogba will be the benchmark clubs value their players at when Utd start bidding.

There seems to be a standoff now.

Juventus have bought Higuain (by all accounts) for a hefty €96m. No way they'd do that without the intention of selling Pogba. It's too much for him and for them. It will also allow them to save face when he goes.

You also have to consider Napoli won't want it confirming they have the best part of €100m to spend, or they'll be faced with an Andy Carroll to Liverpool situation.

Juventus will obviously try and get as much money as they can for Pogba. Raiola's fee seems to be the problem, we have to pay that as well. The fee has always been set at roughly £105m, I think, and they aren't budging on that.

The reality is, long term, whether he costs £90m or £100m - it makes no difference.

Juve committing to the Higuain deal was indeed the best thing to happen for Man U in the Pogba chase.

The way it's going I think he will become a Man U player, but I think Man U fans could have a nervy wait almost right up to transfer deadline day.

If they're wanting to fund the deal by selling Pogba, it doesn't mean they necessarily have to sell him this year, though. They could just sell him next year and be fine.

That's true. But that does involve a degree of risk, what if he breaks his leg, etc.

€96m for Hig. Jesus wept this season has gone ballistic! Wasn't he €45m when he moved to Napoli? Even that was a stretch.

He's definitely worth more than the €40m he went to Napoli for now, whether he's worth more than double is debatable though. Don't forget that he's coming off a brilliant season where he broke the Serie A scoring records with 36 league goals.

2013/14 - 24 goals total
2014/15 - 29
2015/16 - 38

Juventus don't have anyone even close to his level and signing him, if he keeps his form, pretty much guarantees that they win the league for the next few seasons. Their highest league goal scorers last year were Dybala with 19 and Mandzukic with 10... Huguain scored 36.

Brilliant rumour floating around Reading this morning - apparently they are in talks to sign Rafael van der Vaart. Would certainly make next season more interesting!

At this point no idea why Pogba would even want to entertain the idea of going to Man Utd....he was already there and didn't get a look in.
Now he's at Juve who will be very dominant in Champs league, have added Alves, Higuin amongst others, probably win the league title and maybe a domestic cup.

Man Utd are still unstable (probably won't be after half a season) and not in the champs league.
