Unless we go WTO in which case say hello to price hikes. I don't get why people want the EU to collapse anyway. Even that happening will cause a world recession.

Sentiments such as that are a good indication of the general level of ignorance relating to the EU debate and anyone saying so clearly has no idea of the economic reality. Allegedly around 45% of our exports go to the EU and at times that figure has been over 50%. If the EU collapses it will most assuredly be bad news for the UK, even if we are no longer an official part of the union.

There is a lot of truth in this post. At the end of the day we are likely to get something negotiated that satisfies none of us and arguably will only act in the interests of the corporate world especially the city of London.

That is probably going to be the outcome although given the current problems in France and Germany a brake of movement for X years seems to be gaining favour.

I see the 3 billion eu development fund has been suspended. This is money due from the eu as investment into the uk, but the rules are the home country has to match the payment.

I am sure the UK has failed at least twice to spend money allocated by the EU

In other news I also see that making the minimum wage regional so poorer areas can pay less is been proposed again. Guess all those poor areas up north who voted out are about to become poorer still. So much for May saying she was going to look after the people who felt left out.

Nothing changes.

LOL not so long ago you were adamant we'd have to accept free movement if we wanted access to the single market. Now you're starting to backtrack.

They finally got round to coming up with a plan? Is it shared anywhere?

Come on. Its only been a month. They will be having meetings about meetings to discuss the seating arrangements of future discussions to arrange the timetable of discussions of future needs to be discussed. That will of course come after they have discussions about the makeup of these committees that will hold these discussions.

The reason I think we may have this is due solely to the events of the past few days. The terrorism threat is worrying a lot of countries and freedom of movement is seen as facilitating these people. The reason it will also be only a temporary measure is due to resistance to accepting removing freedom of movement.

Temporary measures have a habit of becoming rules with time and usage. Facts on the ground.

Problem is this time the businesses had been told they were getting it and it was all approved but now everything is on hold.

Sucks if you were one of those businesses though.

Did you read the post? The EU is against any removal of freedom of movement. Clear?

I said I could see a possibility that the freedom of movement might be temporarily suspended due to the current terrorist attacks. Clear?

This will only be temporary. Clear?

Then we would have to go back to accepting total freedom of movement if we wanted access to the single market.

I suspect many of the people who died for our democracy (and sovereignty) would be turning in their graves at some of the comments in this thread.
