**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Like I said earlier mate there is no global ROM for it yet, so will come with a China ROM which has English and Chinese at stock. You can also download the Google installer for the play store etc, and uninstall any China apps you don't need. Have a look at some YouTube reviews before you buy.

Sorry for the many questions.

So does this basically mean I can just set it to UK language and it will be good to go and it will just have some Chinese apps on the phone as standard? Which as you say should be easy enough to remove?

Just trying to get my head around how much work is needed to get the phone up and going and not be bogged down with lots of Chinese apps etc.

Funnily enough i'm just watching his review now.

Well my tempered glass I put on this phone hasn't lasted great. Wondering if it was cheap plastic. Ive now ordered a more expensive one from top one. Cost about £6. Plus as I have had a couple of drops resulting in a few dents, so decided it's time for a case. Shame because I like the look of the redmi note 3 and feel of the metal case but need to stop the damage as I intend to keep it another 18 months. Bought a leather case for about 4.50 from pingping international and a silicon case for 1.50 from new mobile era technologies. All 3 bought via aliexpress.

I bought a genuine Xiaomi flip case for my note 3 and it is just great quality and has the built in magnet so the phone turns on and off when you open and close it. I also got a genuine glass screen protector for it and that is great as well. I don't like the thought of dropping my phone no matter how cheap it is.

So... I have £150 burning a hole and I'm bored of my Samsung A5, if I'm on EE is the redmi still the best option? :)

Same question from me, I think I'll have to just go for one!

I this the best seller? http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_349209.html

AliExpress seller TopOne (read good reviews here) is coming in at £160 for the same phone?
And there is likely to be a customs charge on top of that too right?

....and is the gearbest sellers where you have to send a note asking for international ROM (or stock rom?) to be installed. I've read too much tonight and can't get it the 'right' way around, but nothing that can't be altered when it arrives anyway right?
(who/when do you make the request to unlock the bootloader?)

Pro/Prime 5"/5.5" Looking on the bay just confused me further :D

What do I actually want to buy, or where from... On an iPad at the minute but I'll go dig up a comparison somewhere (I hope). I just don't want to get mis-sold the wrong model by a sneaky seller.

No band 20, there is a special edition out which has it for Vietnam so someone might figure out the changes needed.

Switched over to the radeon kernel tonight and antutu has gone up to 80400 and it's unlocked quick charge :3

This is a problem with Xiaomi, their product range strategy is akin to using a shotgun, with little or no coherent segmentation whatsoever.

None of their phones support band 20 officially. I've never read of anyone unlocking it on one of their phones either which suggests it's a hardware limitation. I'm on EE personally, so this isn't an issue for me.

Their best performing phone is the Mi 5, with the Snapdragon 820, but it lacks expandable storage. After that, the Redmi Note 3 is probably the best so long as you get the version with the Snapdragon 650, but it's stuck on Android 5.1 and is quite large (5.5").

Im in same boat as you, trying to suss out whether to take the punt or not. I generally prefer the stock android experience but MIUI doesnt look to bad. I just hate getting phones with loads of foreign bloatware on.

Also, how are you working it out to be £160 with TopOne? Its $180 for a Redmi 3 Pro in silver inc DHL delivery, which works out a nudge over £135 - he claims the delivery wont incur any customs/import charges either and this has been evidenced by others who have bought off him.

There are people selling them on Ebay for £135 with UK stock too so no messing/waiting though.

to answer the peeps above ^^^^

note series / 5.5inch:
---------------------
top end - Redmi note pro (4) (not released yet)

Mid - Redmi note 3 pro

low redmi note 3

Redmi series / 5.0inch:
----------------------
top - Redmi 3s

Mid - redmi 3 pro

low - redmi 3

-----------------------

edit, i haven't included their flagship device the Mi5! as its not in the same price bracket.

I heard that the gearbest ones come with a cooked rom and bloat ware on them, at least with Top one you get the genuine global rom.

Edit just got an MIUI 8 update now installing 6.7.29. Updated every Friday as promised.

See, I can't find anything conclusive which marks the 3s a better device than the 3 Pro. It's newer and has a different chipset but have heard mixed things about it and not entirely sure it is better. A lot of things i've read say the 3 Pro is better or am I reading in the wrong places?

Anything you can post a link to which shows it is clearly a better handset?
