970 3.5GB 'Ramgate' - NVIDIA ordered to pay $30 to each owner

So much baiting in this thread. Why guys?

I am sure those who had a 970 will be able to claim from different countries as well, so a nice touch for those guys

Be America only I would think
Would assume so.
The bumbgate 'settlement' was America only too although if I had been someone who got a $250 laptop for a $1500 gaming laptop which broke due to an inherent design flaw I would not have been impressed.
Still, for my bumbgate faulty 8800GT I got nothing and co-incidentally just before it failed BFG went bankrupt (not that they had as generous a warranty over in Europe as in America). Well actually co-incidentally probably meant that they had already suffered from having to replace lots of solder faulty Nvidia parts in America - mine just broke a few months late :(

Serves them right after the contempt they showed towards their customers.

Well, after the way they handle their massive amount of solder defects, I have pretty much avoided Nvidia totally. While Charlie Demerjian may be mostly a ranting clown (but who does know a fair bit about semi-conductors) I am convinced the reason he's so disliked has a lot to do with exposing Nvidia over their solder defect. Think he came up with the Bumbgate term.
Ironically, the only Nvidia card I bought recently (not for me!) was a GTX 970...
But I believe the contempt for their customers is very much part of their corporate culture from the CEO down and will never change.

Put it through Google translator and it read:

A lousy attempt at nullifying negative Nv news by trying to discredit the posters as horrible peeps.:p

Well I purchased my 970 after the whole RAMGate thingy and I was happy with it. Do I get 30 dollars (which are now worth more of our £s due to recent events) too? I might have used it to buy new case fans lol.

well it would be nice in the UK as I had 2 of them, but overclockers were good enough to offer a full refund for all 970 owners even before Nvidia pulled themselves together and made a statement, and I returned them so thanks again OCUK. Don't think i'll qualify for any refunds then somehow lol

Now it's time to take on the biggest con merchants when it comes to memory....mobile phone makers

I would have said HDD manufactures, gets my goat tbh, go get one of those 5tb drives and you'll see what I mean

I've lost half a tb before I've even partitioned/formatted it

Had a 970 since release not once did the ram issue ever bother me... don't care about 30 quid.. now have 1080 and lovely x34

Thanks for reading

This isn't about whether or not the 0.5 gb was significant, this is about fraudulent practices on Nvidia's part - which they quite clearly are and the courts have agreed.
