AMD Announces RX 470 and RX 460 cards

Wanna bet? :p

18% slower and £170+.

Btw, where are you pulling your numbers from? No problem if it's just speculation, we're all doing that. But I don't think I've missed any leaks as I've been scanning Google religiously for info :p

I was factoring in overclocking, 100mhz on the core and a memory oc should take it to 480 perf.

Too repetitive.
Agreed, I don't see AMD fans walking into topics all the time and saying 'can we say 3.5gb??'

Baffles me as to why the Nvidia fanboys are always so toxic  Either way, hope we see some nice cards in the futurwe as the current ones are all a bit overpriced or waiting for the right performance in my mind.

I do agree with humbug the overclockers dream is getting past its sell by date. but please don't even try to compare it to how often we hear 3.5GB jests.

Criticism doesn't always equate to partisanship.

Check my post history and you'll find I haven't exactly been dishing out praise to nVidia either.

Both companies are under-delivering, or over-pricing. Take your pick.

Neither are giving a great deal for the consumer.

OK, actually, I am biased. Biased in favour of the consumer; the gamer; the end-user. I couldn't give a fig about nV's shareholder dividends or AMD's bumbling management.

But... it is easier to just call me a fanboy shill.

e: In fact it's amazing just how easy it is to get into the nVidia fanboy shill fraternity these days. What used to be an exclusive club, with members hand-picked (by Gregster :p), now only requires a couple posts suggesting AMD could be doing better. Which means many of us are now card-carrying nVidia fanboys, without even realising it! No wonder their market share is enormous.

Kind to Nvidia or not, doesn't make overused toxicity less toxic does it?

That's right, I agree neither are doing super this gen so ... should I harp back to other by gone criticisms? Remember when those 580's were setting on fire? Too soon?

Okay you clearly took my comment quite serious (fair enough) but take the part criticising the lack of productive posting more serious than the single 'fanboy' word if you want to take it properly serious.

Also that club is very easy to get in, just be willing to get overcharged and talk smack about AMD all the time for irrelevancies of the past to detail threads. Either way my main gripe was with the toxicity not your defensiveness of which cards you buy and insult.

As far as I'm concerned, Fury isn't ancient history. Heck, it's the out-going gen!! It's still being sold!!

And it (sadly) highlighted that AMD will say anything, true or not, for a couple sales. They obviously don't care about their reputation for truthfulness.

Which is also true of nVidia, naturally.

The points is - these companies aren't your friends. They'll lie to you when it suits them. Why spring to their defense over a stupid joke or two?

I don't remember things being so bad in the 9700/9800 vs FX5800/FX5950 days. Maybe they were and my rose-tinted ways are too blinding.

Well now... do you remember the 9600SE or the 9800SE?

Possibly AMD's most deliberate attempt to mislead consumers.

I see AMD fans mocking/bashing Nvidia all the time on here, what are you talking about?

I love this holier than thou hypocrisy around here. Everybody thinks 'the other side' is the bad one, when y'all are all equally obnoxious and cringe-worthy. If you're 'on a side' at all, you're part of the problem.

I am willing to bet that if AMD releases a really great card, for a very good price, a lot of people running Nvidia cards would buy one. Heck I'd get a FreeSync screen as well and I am pretty sure I am not alone in this one.

I wonder if Gregster has a Freesync screen too ...

Well yes, I'm sure many people would get on the bandwagon for a mis-priced product.

Not to mention the miracle needed to make a cheaper, better performing card and also harvest a healthy profit from the customer so the business has money to spend on its future.

A well-priced card is a mid-priced card?

Not sure what you're saying.

Are you saying we should all be prepared to pay through the nose to keep AMD alive?

Actually I have no idea what mis-pricing has to do with anything that anyone has said.
