So I've landed myself in a relationship with someone who I've only recently found out claims to be a feminist although I can't see what she does actively to support this, however the issue is when having debates about the issues, most of the time I can shut her points down or at least explain why they aren't as clear cut as she thinks, wage gap for example.

It's gotten to the point where it just winds her up and she'll go in a one over it.

So should I:

1. Stop bringing it up
2. Continuing arguing my opinion whenever it comes up
3. Get out before the real crazy

To be honest, the place I'm in now, I'd be leaning towards 3.

I understand that feminism was needed, but now we must all strive to be egalitarian. There is no longer any need to specifically build up one gender over another.

What do you mean by 'shut her points down'? Maybe she's getting wound up because you're wrong but adamant that you're right? :p

One of the keys to a happy relationship is to allow space for both your partner and yourself to be wrong.

No-one hands out prizes for conclusively proving either of you is an idiot.

I would think that no matter where she lies on the spectrum of feminism beliefs that if you feel the need to and actively 'shut her points down' then you really need to really think about how you are adding to any potential quality to the relationship.

I would think being the patriarchal you are wrong and this is why type of guy may not go down well with most women let alone a self-professed feminist.

Feminism isn't bad you know!

See, that is ridiculous hyperbole.

Get off the internet and talk to a woman.

Why? Surely online we have access to more and more people compared to what one could encounter in the average day? Particularly on feminist forums and the likes?

They scare me :(

But seriously one thing that does bother me is that crime is not treated equally for example a female teacher sleeps with a 13 year old student on a regular basis gets caught sentenced to 200 hours community service. Male teacher does the exact same thing gets ordered to sign a sex offenders list branded as a peadofile and given 5-10years in prison when he will be molested himself.

Surely they should both have their life's taken away and ruined equally.
