Words / phrases that annoy you

"Park that for now" in the context of leaving something for later when you either can't or don't know how progress it.

Then you get the latin words; circa, ergo. I just find them so pretentious. People are consciously going out of their way to use these words for the sake of using them. I guess its not the words that annoy me, its the reasons people use them.

I hate to disillusion you but in at least one case (myself), I'm using Latin words just because they are familiar to me and fit my meaning. I'll use ergo and I never realised some found it odd. It's just a word to me.

Personally, there are only two that send me into fits. One is "I could care less" as a way of stating you don't care about something. That is maddening. The other is people who write "loose" when they mean "lose". That started recently and has become pervasive.

Close of business, COB, end of play...all annoyances.

Also the word 'strategic' grates on me when used by companies to enhance their image.. 'We're strategic this..' or 'we do strategic..' **** off.

I'm sure there's many more I'll think of later.

'Space'

Not as in look up at the sky space, but in using it in business settings.

'Well they've not been as active as they should've been in that space'

'As you can appreciate it's been a rather challenging space'

It seems to be all the rage around these parts. Every little punk with a manager title appears to be in love with that word suddenly. Use it in as many sentences as they can when senior managers are around. I'm pulling the general manager aside next week and asking her, for the love of God, to use a new businesseé word next week for the little robots to latch on to before someone gets a cup of steaming coffee in the face. Knowing her she'll get a good chuckle out of that and find an even more obscure word just to wind me up further :p
