OCUK RWYB Drag Meet - Saturday September 17th - Santa Pod Raceway

The 1300hp ams GTR on slicks ran a 9.05. Have to be very light to get 9.2 out of 800hp.

i was wondering that last night, this Chevrolet Nova 2 weighs 2505 lbs and runs 9.2 at 144........there's a photo of it at the Pod so it's correct, so either the advert is wrong and it's more than 800hp...........more like 900hp or it is indeed only 2505lbs, which is very light for a Nova 2, mind you it's pretty well stripped out and it's quite a small boxy Yank car.

it would be a **** to make street legal as it runs on methanol.........but the rest, lights, indicators/wipers etc wouldn't be too much of a problem.

my guess is the HP is right because a 434 ci race tuned is around 800hp max without forced induction etc.

the standard GTR weighs 3,840 lb which is really heavy, but i've no idea what the AMS weighs.

Is this for really powerful cars or can any mere mortals with a hot ish hatch join?

I've seen a driving instructors car run the strip, i think you will be fine :) Its a good fun day our regardless of car, those lights change quicker than you think!

Stick me down as a maybe, I've not had chance to go this year and might prompt me to fix the niggles! :o

Come along, it's only up the road for you as well.

I've heard of 2CVs running.

There is basically nothing that will run a lower than a 30s quarter which is when the timing gear runs out

Thread updated, couple who didn't mention what car. Hoping a lot of the possibles turn into runners :)

no cage required

no weight limit, just a helmet and driving licence

ScoobyDoo, congrats on the new Scooby mate, still preferred your old one though :p ;) :D

Thanks. Me too ;) :)

this is a damned good thread
9.2 seconds is about 800HP depending on weight of course

i'll bring my push bike then :D:D

So are you coming?

if we are bringing push bikes, im coming ;)

I am working so I cant make it

hope some of you are taking a video camera, sounds like your gonna have lots of fun! :D

.

So are you coming?

i would absolutely love to, but i cant purchase another car for at least another month at the earliest..........and i deffo aint going to make a fool of myself in my Jazz :D:D

i sense that we've got the start of something great here and if this takes off, then my personal view is keep the Jazz for work etc, and buy a 2nd Street Legal car for Drag Racing.

i'll turn up to watch though..............DEFINITELY

i love Drag racing i used to go all the time when i was a nipper.....i'd rather do this than go on holiday, i think it would be great to meet people here

Bit too hard on the transmission for my liking. Only drag event I have done is Fighting Torque in 2007 but that was over 3/4 mile. Nailed it at that event but too much strain for my liking on the R8.

Sorry forgot to mention my car, Mitsubishi GTO TT

You can launch as hard or as soft as you like ;) Its not officially racing but if something tasty lines up its hard not to gun it :D

I'd like to think the R8 was engineered with abuse in mind

Ok put me down as coming :) Looks like my schedule has freed up!
