Bought Fridge from AO - Has a Euro Plug!

I am sure there were regs about a decade or so ago that all CE devices sold in this region had to be fitted with the right plug......

Although when we Brexit.. maybe that won't be such an issue.. and you'll just have to suffer it.

Oh my god you're right, how on earth did we cope back when we had to do simple five minute tasks ourselves!

Okay 20 posts in and I still don't know what "AO" is? Any help?

Also, stop being a ninny as just get an adaptor.

An electrical good must be sold in the UK with a 3 pin plug or with an approved 3 pin plug adapter. With the exception of Toothbrush, Shavers and what not.

I don't think the Fridge should be sent back just because it's missing an adapter, and calling AO's premium phone number should result in them sending an adapter out.

I cut the old plug off something I'm about to scrap so always have a decent supply. Had you done this before they took away the old fridge it would have been running within 10 minutes.

This is overclockers isn't it? The website which sells high end computer components which the users mainly install and overclock themselves?

Just checking.

Being an Electronics Engineer 'Yes!' I can change a Plug! But It was my 65 year old Mother-in-law who is 50 odd miles away from me (and the rest of her family)! Plus I or my very DYI Un-Savvy Mother-in-law shouldn't have to change the Plug!!

I opened a 'web chat' with one of their advisers and...

This was the first line of their reply...

She went on to say that it might be a batch error from the manufacturer, and they will check...

But the person who my Mo-in-law spoke to said, very unhelpfully, "That's how they come!"

So someone is telling porkeys...

Plus, strangly, the Fridge is now no longer listed on their website!! (I'm not sure of Make/model, but My wife checked and told me this!)

Plus No there wasn't an adaptor in the packaging!!

I didn't think AO was a 'Budget' re-seller, I thought they were like Amazon for Appliances!

Ahh fair enough. Tbh I've never received anything with an eu plug fitted but appreciate the situation this put her in.

If you open a complaint and tear the backside out of it they'll probably refund the Sunday delivery charge, or do another weekend delivery for free.

AO.com are brilliant I order appliances for customers all the time, and yes it should have a UK plug if the item is sold for a UK market, this is a batch error.

I'd have unboxed it. Realised it had an EU plug. I would have went on Amazon or treated myself to a walk to almost any supermarket, and bought myself a plug adapter.

Mountain out of a mole hill or what!
