*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

Guess I'll be skipping it in the end, no discount and the prices are silly. Might get one in 2 months time when my contract fully runs out.

That Anandtech review wasn't very promising! - I'm assuming its because they use the US snapdragon model they were getting 'lag' etc in the menus.

Do we get the Exynos version here in the UK?

Anand do like to cut through the bs but hardly surprising it's laggy. It's Samsung after all.

Sample videos and camera samples will be identical to the S7 series. Reviews need not bother focusing (!) on those areas. SD820 does have lag issues on the S7, so naturally of course it would on the Note 7. Exynos is where it's at if you want smoothness.

The main areas of importance with this will be battery life, storage write speeds, USB write speeds, Wireless and cell reception performance/efficiency (Note 7 is the first with 4x4 MIMO).

CPW is now offering £80 Quidco for all preorders, takes a nice chunk out of the handset cost.

I'm just happy about the £22.17 I got from the Samsung pre-order. Makes buying from them a little better and the VR and case are just an added bonus. Doubt I will ever use the VR so will probably end up selling it.

Hmmm so this is my wife's offer from EE

£39.20/m + £10 handeset

7GB Full speed 4G. Unlimited mins + text.

£951 total over 24m.

Not too bad but not great either.

Now back to normal review:

Im in the market for a new phone (sim free purchase)

Been using iPhone since the iPhone 4 and had every iteration with a few Andriod devices in between, and ive got to say for the size of the device and how well he seems to handle it with 1 hand makes this a viable option for me.

Spec's obviously are high end and i can see this lasting me a couple of years, i dont game at all on my phone although i have been playing Pokemon Go which doesn't really seem that intensive as it is buggy.

I loved my Note 3 when i had that a few years back, im hoping someone on XDA would have rooted this and have the ability to install a custom clean stock rom as i dont care much for fancy applications. Ill be keeping my eye out for a good deal on this.

That's pretty good to be fair.
That some special one off offer or available to all?

That's with Friends & Family 30% discount

It's normally £56/m

£30 handset.

The prices have definitely cranked up a bit since my S7E upgrade in Feb. (paid £35/m £50 handset for 20GB data)

Ya I just got the same offer, but that was from cancellations and didn't include the vr headset - they said I should go into the store to see if they can give the free headset, although I doubt it. Even with friends and family, it's not much.

Currently on a month rolling sim contract with Three.

Being offered the following;

1 - Unlimited text/min plus 8gb data: £47/month
2 - Unlimited text/min plus 8gb data: £150 upfront + £40/month

Currently paying £23/month, so on either of the above the phone ends up costing me roughly £550.

Three are not now including Feel at Home in their Essential plans, which is what the above are.

Edit: This also includes a free 2016 VR headset.

I managed to up the data to 25GB for £39.20/m + £10 handset. So I went ahead for my wife and my dad. Both coral/gold combo.

No VR headset which is a shame but no big deal for them.

edit - delivery date 2nd Sept.

I was told 3 days early from launch day... and said if I want the headset, they may be able to do the deal with headset if I go in store (no promises though)

me and my gf are considering it and getting 2 headsets... but I don't know:
1. most movies we watch are 1080p max, so we are only just utilizing our 46inch tv, 4k movies just aren't accessible enough at the moment
2. Can't really see anything that pops out that I want to try with vr.
3. I think there's a lot of marketing hype on the phone and the value will depreciate very quickly

When you look at it on paper, it is literally just a bigger s7 edge with worse battery life and a pen. Can you really justify the extra £10pm charge (£240 over contract)

knowing all the while the new snapdragon 823 processor is already available and there are already phones out with more ram?

I'm close to a purchase, but I'm still on the ropes I think mainly because of the price...

The delivery date I stated was the latest, so possibly earlier like I had with the S7E.

I appreciete the differences over the S7E.

1. 64GB internal storage
2. USB-C
3. Bigger screen
4. Better edge design (not as much roll off and better palm rejection)
5. Coral/gold colour
6. S-Pen features

S7E was £35/m so only a £4 difference.

Note 7 looks amazing, subtly changes do make a difference. I think its easy to say that Samsung has the best design in the smartphone game, and 2 years ago they where one of the worst. No one is even close at this point which is ironic haha.
