The news may have shown him in his roles as Willy Wonka, The Producers, Blazing Saddles, but my favourites were Stir Crazy and See No Evil, Hear No Evil

Charlie (and the Chocolate Factory) was one of those films where both versions were decent. I would used to watch both back-to-back. But yeah RIP Gene

These last couple of years 2014-16 have certainly taken a lot of celebs away from us.

The Producers is still my favourite flick of all time. My uncle sat me down to watch it at the age of 11 and to this day I still watch 2-3 times a year. An absolute comic genius with impeccable timing. Wonderful guy too.

He was truly one of my favourite actors. His portrayal of Willy Wonka was pure brilliance and even though I will be 50 in a couple of months that remains to be one of my favourite films of all time. His partnership with the great Richard Prior in films such as Stir Crazy and See no Evil, Hear no Evil worked so well and his part in Blazing Saddles as the Waco Kid was hilarious. He shall be sorely missed. I hope he is now at rest after his battle with the terrible disease that is Alzheimer's.
