What are people's thoughts on the burkini ban in France?

If it was me and a form of dress was banned, id think you know what, France has just experienced some hugely devastating terrorist attacks by fellow Muslims. Instead of stirring the hornets nest i will just acquiesce and do as they ask.

Do they think they are engratiating themselves further into society by taking these actions?

The rational response of a mature liberal democracy is to recognise that people may dress how they wish, but at the same to protect people from being forced into doing something they don't want to do. onbe of the fundamental parts of the way of life is that we can't be told how to dress...except for the laws regarding dress, plus the myriad of less legal issues regarding outfits, social conditions and employment conditions on what we wear.
 
Well that is obviously where we differ and thankfully we are able to discuss openly even with such challenging subjects. If you want Muslims to integrate we have to let some things slide a blanket ban will force them to be more insular which is much more threatening to our way of life. You can't prevent faith by banning it. History has repeatedly taught us that.

if that's the way we are playing the game, then I put forward a motion that all germans need to take more punitive punishment for what the Nazi's did. Additionally while taking their punitive punishment they had better shut their cake holes and acquiesce, because they are probably nazi scum underneath anyway...........

Completely disagree. The muslims in France really aren't culpable for the terrorism that occurs.

If someone said to you tomorrow, England is offended that you wear a shirt to work, so now all men are going topless...you wouldn't just bow down. It's only work, and it's only your chest, but there's no way you'd turn up to work like that!

Imagine then being a Muslim lady who has been covered up her entire life (whether this is good or not is irrelevant at this point), and then the government tells her exactly how she has to dress. There's no way on earth that she's going to say, "oh fine, I was just wearing this because I felt like it. I'm going to go and get my **** out on the beach now."

Why the hell would they acquiesce?! They have as much right to wear anything as anyone else does.

I'm so so so glad that this ban was overturned. It's completely disgraceful and the French government should be utterly embarrassed. Keeping your face covered whilst in public, on the other hand, is completely unreasonable in my opinion if you continue to ask everyone else to take their helmets off etc.
 
Nazism was outlawed. So even the nazi's that didn't kill or hurt people were punished. Germany as a country was made to pay. Literally.

So you are saying they should have zero empathy for their countrymen in this time of crisis?

No body has to go to the beach, it's not a requirement. No one is stopping them from wearing a burkini in their back garden if they so want. But while there's threat of suicide bombers or gunmen on beaches hiding weapons in their clothing, you'd have to be pretty idiotic to think 'why don't we all pile down to the beach in burkinis and really rub their french noses in it'

What laws? There are none regarding clothing in the UK.

No they shouldn't have zero empathy, but telling them to dress down is not really the answer...seriously? It's just a way in which the French government can and will oppress the already oppressed.

I don't think the issue is really whether they're hiding bombs in their swimsuit. It's just, in my opinion, another way to show how they're "clamping down on Islamic activity".
 
How are you supposed to get your full dosage of vitamins from the sun wearing one?

Well 230 people have been murdered by islamic terrorists in France and they have armed police on the beaches this year.

So I would say yes.

I find it hard to believe that people are doubting that France has a credible threat from Islamic terrorists at the moment
