*** Battlefield 1 ***

I'm referring to the AT-ATs

They're not behemoths though, they don't even function in the same way. And unless the at-at head was pointed in the right direction due to it barely being able to turn a lot of the time they didn't have any impact on the game.

The anti tank rifle is by far the best pick up. When you first spawn make your way to E, pick up the rifle, go prone and attack all incoming jeeps. Blew up a jeep and light tank as soon as I picked up the rifle last night, got 5 kills in the first minute of the match. :)

I got that thing twice yesterday and both times the rounds just went all over the place, don't know if it was server issue or something affecting it but the shots seemed to almost go into the sky from a prone position

I like it.

I don't like

-the reward for spray over burst
-no one liked suppression from old games so why insist on keeping it
-don't like heroes
-would have preferred a less modern UI
-Stephen fry for voice over would have been amazing.

Also got the elite sniper rifle, talk about OP pickups lel... Although tbf, you do need to keep your distance.

I got a 16 killstreak with the at-at the other day within 2 seconds, orbital strike FTW! :D The only time the AT-AT is useless is when it is turning to face the new set of points and on endor. It has a massive impact on the game on most maps especially Hoth. The empire side might not win a lot of the time but that is more down to players just not pushing the objectives.

The behemoth does remind me of an AT-AT in some ways although there are quite a few differences and the way the behemoths are done are certainly a lot better than the AT-AT; more players can use it, not on the rails (except the train...), can be destroyed at any time without having to activate some uplink.

Like I said before, elites and behemoths should just be removed completely from this game though, they add nothing other than balance issues and something to cater for the COD/casual crowd.

As for flight mechanics, yes, BF has never been realistic but they had an extremely high skill ceiling where as now, any half decent noob can jump in and rekt and not have to worry about going against an excellent dog fighter, just watch levelcaps footage :o Plus, once the planes have good unlocks, I can see them dominating the ground quite a bit i.e. the rocket pods

Okay if the comments here are "thoughtless nonsense." What does "Flow better" actually mean? Don't just pluck up phrases out of thin air without explaining what you mean & the point you are trying to put across otherwise you are just giving an example of thoughtless nonsense yourself.

It means the battle seems to flow from point to point in a more reliable fashion. It means the front tends to move together (especially in the centre B>C+D>F area) rather than completely haphazardly.

I have to say, this game for me doesn't feel right, for some reason it feels exactly like hardline. My opinion. I play on a server go 27 to 3 on foot and the next round go 7 to 7 same play style same server ? This happens often and frustrates me a bit. Things i like is the sounds of the weapons...

Horse riding is well bugged, I use the sword like 5 meter away from the infantry and get the kill. There is no skill in getting kills on the horse, the moment you are in 5m radius of the player and use the sword you will get the kill..which is odd

The sniping the bullet drop is 0 up until certain distance and then it is MASSIVE... Point blank shots with the most powerful sniper are 70-93 dmg... so there goes no scopes, so doesn't matter if you miss your shot or hit SMG/LMG will kill you unless you can pull pistol faster or enemy is blind...

I will play the beta, and I will not buy this unless its 25 quid, but by that time it will die like HL and battlefront...

Planes doesn't let me assign my joystick which for me is a big no no. People will tell me to use xbox/ps controller or mouse but I got used to joystick and I HAVE THE OPTION in the menu it just doesn't let me setup or control the planes... It may be just alpha bugs tho...

I was hoping for a reskin, honestly! I was not expecting a new game, but if they would resking BF 4 or 3 rather then hardline. I would not mind paying for that as i got like 1200+ hours on bf4/3 and if they would be lazy and literally just change skins/weapons (maps and vehicles to match ww1 but based on bf4/3) it would be good enough. This was not the case and thats disappointing.

Maybe the guy who is responsible for weapon balance is on holiday :p

I've only played for about 60 mins, but I will give some initial thoughts:

- Graphics/sound are top-notch. The visuals do seem a bit 'plasticky' if that makes sense? It doesn't feel particularly gritty, but I suppose it's largely due to the desert map. Overall, though, I'm impressed.

- Gun-play is horrible. I know I am echoing many others, but omg. I was playing as the Medic with the rifle and got the drop on a squad of 2-3 players from behind. I unloaded the entire mag on them - by the time I actually did any damage they wheeled around and blasted me. The weapons I tried seem pathetically under-powered, with virtually no recoil. I'd expect the rifle to be 1-2 shot kill; unfortunately, in its current state it's pewpewpew as opposed to actual aiming/skill.

- Loved the feeling of the tank. Feels powerful/heavy. Although I agree it's OP, I hope they don't go too far in the opposite direction in pursuit of balance. The tanks should be hard to take down.

- Planes handle like the X-wings in Battlefront, which I did not like. I will play-test flying some more, but it's very arcadey as others have stated.

- Horses seem a bit pointless. They're only use seems to be rushing flags. Aside from that they're just big targets. I'd rather they made a cavalry class which could be upgraded/customised for different roles. Also, this would have allowed for proper Cav charges which could have been fun/effective for rushing points.

Overall, I was hoping it would feel more like BC2. However, it actually reminds me a lot of BF1943 - which is indicative of its target market. I actually liked BF1943, but it was a game that you played for 30 mins for a quick-blast. It's another reason why I'm so annoyed that this game is so expensive for what it is.

Despite this, If I accept its more casual gameplay then it's actually a lot of fun. If I want something with more depth then there are other options on the horizon (hello, Rising Storm 2).

You can flow from one objective to another in BF3/4 in a "reliable fashion" too. What about A and G they are out in sticks and not even worth capturing because they don't provide any vantage point or reason to flank from them.

BF1 has a much faster pace compared to any Battlefield game I've seen. Even more than Hardline. This probably gives the illusion that the game flows better because of the character speed and ability to even snap to aim from sprinting to get easy hip fire kills. The close proximity of the objectives and increased number of ground vehicles also adds to the fast paced nature of it all.

Theres a really bad bug regarding your class leveling, that the dev's know about and are apparently going to patch.

I'd love to know what that weird looking brass lump kind of thing is meant to be on one of the sniper rifles, looks vaguely like some kind of mount held in the snipers hand. Weirdest looking thing ive seen on a sniper rifle and the way its held you would think there would be almost no stability in it.

A lot of those can be applied to pretty much any other battlefield game, going good in one round and not the next is just gaming in general, good rounds mixed with bad rounds. As for flight mechanics, battlefield has never had even vaguely realistic flight mechanics, you just have to look at what attack helicopters were capable of doing back in BF2 to know this. As for behemoths, since when did battlefront have behemoths? So far ive seen a few "heroes" being used and they were dispatched pretty quickly, their influence over the fight has been wildly exaggerated due to people playing battlefront and seeing their impact in that game. There's no darth vader, boba fett or luke to contend with so its not even remotely on that level.

For me they aren't any different to the battle pickups that were around in BF4 with the .50 cal sniper and the MGL etc..

I'm referring to the AT-ATs

The Armored train and the blimp are like the AT-AT .. in the same way that AT-ATs were like the AC130.

People loved battlefield 4 at the end, but battlefront borrowed a lot from it. All the stuff people are pointing out that has been carried across from battlefront (like battle pickups, the Blimp etc..) were in Battlefield 4 first.

Then gun-play changes are interesting (not necessarily in a good way!) .. i wonder if they're there to decrease the impact any 1 player will have on the game.. so stopping the situation where one skilled guy can wipe out an entire squad.
This, along with the ticketing changes, suggest that this particular BF will be much more squad and objective focused and less on gun-play and individual skill. So, 4 average players could dominate 1 extremely skilled player of the same (non-sniper) class.

Not sure if that's a good or a bad change really.. i guess it will all come out in the next few months as people get used to it.
