Franchise where the third film is the best one.

We were talking about sequels the other day at work.
It occurred to me that I could not think of a franchise where the third film was the best one. In fact the thought occurred where the third is often the poorest.

So tell me what third film is the best in the series. Not as good as, best. I found lots of as good as.....

Here are some to get started (what I found online, not my best)

Toy Story 3 ( never seen)
Return of the Jedi (prefer Empire)
Die Hard With a Vengeance (I prefer 1)
Return of The King (maybe for me, I seem to remember preferring two towers)
Dark Knight Rises (I prefer Dark Knight)

So far only return of the king gets close....

Evil Dead - Army of Darkness

It's the one I find the most entertaining. It's not the scary one, but the peak of Sam Raimi's Splatstick.

Great great movie and it is part of the trilogy. It just feels so far away from the first one it's unreal. The theatrical ( Ash, housewares) ending is so much better than the dvd release.

I had considered this, 2 just edges it for me. it's the funniest.

Someone mentioned good the bad and the ugly, not seen it but that also came up in my research!

With the new timeline Star Trek Films the 3rd one Beyond is the best one of the new set. In the old timeline films Star Trek III: The Search for Spock is better then Star Trek 1 although not the best one of the old films.

TDKR isn't as good as either of it's predecessors, it's a mess of a movie and full of ridiculous plot holes. I still feel to this day that Nolan was forced into doing it.

I'd rather watch BvS again than TDKR.

Just like the better use of time travel in the 3rd one, used it to go to a better setting imo.
