The rules have changed. If the defender is deemed to have made a fair attempt to play the ball then it's only a yellow and a pen.

edit: to be clear that's only for goalscoring opportunities inside the area. Outside the box is still a red regardless of intent.
 
Fer was already on a yellow card, not only should it be a foul but he should probably be sent off. Straight up studs into his leg from behind, wasn't a lunge or anything but he knew what he was doing, just straight up kicked up with no attempt to win the ball, easy yellow, should have been a red and instead ends up a goal.
 
From what I saw(missed bits of first half) Chelsea deserved the win. 2nd Swansea goal is absolutely horrendous refereeing, Fer should have been off for a second yellow for that. At 1-1 and down to 10 I couldn't see Swansea holding on to 1-1.
