PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Just think of how much extra work it will be now for Game Developers to cater for both the old PS4 and the PS4 Pro.

I wont be upgrading as i dont have a 4K telly anyway.

bingo ! games will still be made from the ground up with the old system in mind, unless sony is really evil and starts doing something like 30 fps for old console and 60 for pro.
The pro is like having a ferrari on roads with a 30 mph speed limit

I saw comparison ROTTR 4K screenshots between a PS4 pro and a gaming PC that would cost about £1500 to put together. There was very little difference, certainly not £1150 worth of difference. I know frame rates come into it, but ROTTR looks fine at a steady 60fps.

wow I am very impressed to hear the pro producing comparable 4k games to a £1500 PC.

Won't be that much work at all really. When the games are made, they are scaled back to fit whatever hardware they are going on to.

If it's an upto 60fps title (think Tombraider), it will just be more likely to sit at 60 than get the dips to 35-40 during action scenes.

What was the pc spec?

Who cares if it's not as good as a few grands worth of pc. I'm still yet to see anything on pc that looks as good as uncharted 4 on PS4 tbh. Unified hardware means at least it should be used to its fullest potential unlike pc's currently.

I haven't played UC4 yet but I'll make the presumption that you must have a crap monitor, PC or must be blind (somehow) :p Or not being honest with yourself seems the most likely..

What I've seen on PS4 has been underwhelming, maybe I have a crap TV or just found it a downgrade from PC ;)

Of course it's a downgrade, but for average salary workers with other commitments, I don't think it's a £1000 worth of downgrade.

I'm not saying that because I can't afford a PC either. I could quite easily add a couple of hundred to what I'm spending on the PS4 pro and get a card capable of 4K, but I just don't think it's worth it. The 4K video from Sony showing off games like Spider-Man and Watchdogs 2 looks fantastic. I really don't need much better and I'm quite frankly very pleased at what they have managed to do for £350.

I can't get my head around all the hate.

Informative video about HDR, from ACG.

he also does a Q&A folow up video but swears a couple of times, nothing crude, here is the link.

From experience for a proper HDR experience, you need a 2016 OLED display.

Even a top-of-the-line 2016 Sony Bravia LCD does not cut it for HDR due to the huge gap in dimming capability on each of the dots.

Disappointment incoming !

I had a decent monitor and a decent 1070 based pc. I'm very honest with myself as well :)

But OLED has limited brightness even the latest ones struggle to hit 5-600 nits with LCD's reaching 1k-1500+.. We need something that can do both really.

They even adapted the standard and created 2 UHD Premium standards for OLED screens.

Uncharted 4/Horizon Zero Dawn must be mouthwatering on a 2016 OLED that has been calibrated and PS4 Pro.

Chapter 13 must be looking so oily wet on OLED.

I keep looking at 10 bit HDR panels, but I really need to reign myself in until a 49" 4K OLED comes down to the £1000-1200 mark. God knows how long that will take though.

I'm being to think everything needs to standardized before any consoles start rendering 4K.

HDR talk is becoming the next thing but wasnt talked about until 12 months ago?!?! Now I am seeing all these 4K TV's stating HDR but people are saying its not "proper HDR" Needs to be 10bit or above.....:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

We havent got our head around 4K yet, never mind 4K LED, 4K OLED, 4K whatever LED. Then it gets complicated with HDR bit rates!

Its HD Ready all over again!

Isn't that what Quantum Dot fixes? Whatever that is. I just heard it mentioned here before.

I'm just going to sit this one out until there's an affordable 4k 'proper' HDR OLED available. May be a while....after comparing OLED to LED though there's no way I could buy LED, just going to have to be patient!
