I don't get that thinking. It's very negative. Why would early release of volta mean pascal was a rush job? Why cant a company release products sooner without a negative opinion given?
There's probably realistic more positive reasons , including Pascal being first gen of new node size

Isn't the pascal/900 series just a revision of maxwell 2.0 at a smaller node size, basically maxwell 3.0?. Wiki link below.

Volta was due in 2016 according to the previous road map.

With that in mind I won't be surprised if Volta is announced to complete with AMD new 49x series chips which are meant to be a new Gcn architecture.

I wouldn't rule out Volta but didn't the last road map have that in as 2018? I reckon it's a full on Ti chip in time for Vega. That's even if he shows a Geforce chip.

It does show as 2018 but there charts go up in 2 so could possible fall in 2017.

Give or take it is as much a revision of Maxwell as Maxwell is a revision of Kepler - though it isn't earth shatteringly different to Maxwell there are significant changes to low level memory systems, all the pre-emption stuff, etc.

Blimey If Nvidia announce a VR headset which is compatible with all VR games and apps AND has a 4K Res you can colour me pink and cover me in yellow dots.

I think it will be the announcement of the 1080 Ti which will be between 10 - 15% faster than the 1080, so 10% behind the Titan XP and the Founders edition will cost $999. Unfortunately, you wont actually be able to pre-order until March and you will probably get it delivered in August/September after forking out over £1000 for it.

It will be announced in January, so as to put a few dents into the announcement of AMDs Vega Chips and to keep the "Overclockers Reality" boys happy.

I'll also be interested. Just as long as they don't try any tricks, like 60 FPS with frame interpolation up to 120 Hz, like the PSVR. 90+ FPS is a must for reduced motion sickness.

PSVR solution works fine, though. :/

The end result is 120fps, so it's well ahead of the 90fps you claim as a must.

Definitely not a 1080 Ti or regular gaming GPU, this is a CES keynote speech, not a gaming conference. He will be talking about the latest advances in HPC, deep learning, automotive, the partnerships with Volvo and Tesla etc. There is likely a preview of Volta, which has rumored to be pulled back to 2017 release.

There could be some interesting VR related news. NVidia were working on some light-field technology that would make appropriate corrections for the stereo distance thus you actually see a 3D image rather than 2 different 2Dimages in each eye. This reduces the cognitive dissonance and makes VR less likely to give a headache.
