*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

Anecdotally I've already heard the first jibes this morning towards a colleague with an S7 Edge - Yes just banter but it's very easy for this stuff to leak further than the product especially among the less tech minded.

Frustrated.

Phone itself is brilliant but if they re-call it what on earth else is there?

I came from an iPhone so won't be going back there, the S7 doesn't interest me.

And that's why I'm now considering the Pixel XL. I know I'd be overpaying, but there's not a lot else that interests me right now. maybe the V20 but not much info about that at the moment.

The Pixel is probably that I'd end up aiming towards however I want to see some reviews of just how good the camera is, etc.

tbh, people saying "higher chance of being hit by a meteorite" you can't say that - this isn't about chance, it's about time.

Every phone is built the same, all phones are subject to the same factory process and design, which is means it's not about chance, it's about time.

How long it takes for the user to use the phone a certain way that triggers the fault, bare in mind this only needs to be done once.

I doubt the note 7 will be done again, although I called it among my work mates - 2 weeks research and testing is no where near enough time to give a confident solution to a problem that can affect all phones.

From the above article

In one incident, passengers were evacuated from a Southwest Airlines flight in Kentucky earlier this week after a replacement Note 7 started smoldering and making “popping noises” soon after its owner boarded the plane.

Could we see a flight ban for Note 7 and similar devices which get hot when used?

My Z5 gets very hot after just a few mins of my kids playing games which aren't very demanding. Hot enough for me to take it out of it's case and let set it aside to cool down. The dbrand leather skin on the back has shrunk which I guess it due to heat.

How much of the battery tech used in the Note 7 is being used for the S8 and does this mean the launch of the S8 could be delayed.

LG V20 not even got a release date for UK yet

Pixel doesn't interest me in the least... overpriced ..no wireless charging,no water resistance + no sd card

If I have to return my Note 7(again) I don't want to swap to a S7E if the S8 is due in 4 months

If Samsung cease full production and it goes EOL be worthless in 2nd hand /trade in market

Not sure it will be worthless. There will still be plenty of people willing to take the chance. Insuring it or anything it touches might be tricky though if there is an official full recall/exchange.

Mine is currently insured through protect my bubble. When I called them up to add it to my policy they never mentioned anything about them bursting into flames however.

After the initial call to Samsung requesting an exchange, how soon afterwards do you hear back? Rang on Thursday, not heard anything yet. Bought from ebay, but originally phone was from Samsung direct.
