What should the OP do?

I have to agree with asim, it's really not that bad. If a speeding ticket does come your way then by all means direct it towards the garage, but I think you should just move on if nothing comes through your letterbox.

I simply see nothin g wrong with his driving apart from breaking the speed limit. Nothing at all to report on that video.

You're being a typical dash cam owner, looking for problems where there are none in order to justify the dash cam purchase and be a general scumbag.

WAT?

Pretty much my take on it.

He kept his foot in for a few seconds in a quick car, didn't rally it round any corners or take any risks.

Double the speed limit twice in one journey is pretty out of order tbh.

Yes, he was 'racing' the fiesta as he booted it to stay up his arse at twice the limit. That isn't normal driving and certainly not what you'd expect from a dealer pickup.

Yeah, I'd report him definitely. Would all those saying its reasonable be happy if it was their own car being driven like that?

He booted it to keep up after the lights, everybody knew the fiesta was going to go for a hard launch and he was barely up the Fiesta's arse. That truck on the left also wanted to go straight and I am sure there were people behind who wanted to get passed the truck before the lanes merged after the traffic lights.

It was actually perfectly safe driving. Look how long his lane was clear on the roundabout at the start. He could have easily shot passed on the left but he stayed well back.

All he did was put his foot down in a straight line, when it was clear, twice.

Putting your foot down a little in a Golf R isn't going to break it, unless you're practising your racing shifts, but it's a DSG anyway no?

I'd report him on the basis he lost the race, if you're going to drive a customer car at 80mph in a 40 limit chasing a Fiesta, at least have the decency to win.

I can't honestly say I think the guy has been hammering the car all the way back to the dealership from that Vid. He shouldn't be doing the speed he is at a couple of points bit come on, it's not as if it takes long to get to 80 in any kind of quick car so he hasn't been hammering the thing along narrow roads lined with children all the way back.

That said, he should know better so I would be having a quiet word and perhaps ask them to have a word and remind drivers that any nip's received as a result of their driving the car will be forwarded straight on with evidence. I wouldn't go formal and have someone sacked for that

80 in a 40 is pretty unforgivable. Quick car or not, it's a customer's car and that was definitely not part of his job.

It's not like that will have been the first or last time he does it and who knows how much worse it's been in other cars, or could have been in OPs without him knowing if he didn't have a dash cam

Calm down.

Did he do anything you wouldn't do? Probably not.

Have a quiet word with the dealer principle, don't get the employee fired, don't call the cops, instead use your loaf and get your next service free of charge.

I wouldn't even bother, the dash cam has the dates and times on it. So if anything does happen then you have proof.

He gave it a little nudge, but the driving looked very safe regardless.

I am calm, I've just asked for some advice which boils down to asking others what they think. If you look at the date stamp on the clip it's the 8th September. I've had no nip and if I was going to report him based on my own opinion I would have by now. I just thought I'd see what the general consensus was as when I show it to my mates some say report, others say nothing wrong with it, exactly like people here.

I'd be speaking to the dealer myself, just a heads up for them.

As people have already mentioned, he wasn't stupid driving, yes he booted it a couple of times, yes he broke the speed limit but none of us are perfect. Just mention it to them on the basis of a FYI and see what they say.

The only thing that offended me was the music!

Blimey, if that's ragging it and having a traffic light grand prix then some of you had best not ever set foot in a car with me!

This. His driving looked, on the whole, pretty smooth. He just stretched the car's legs once or twice. Certainly not my definition of "ragging it", and I'm not sure I'd class keeping up with a 120bhp Fiesta (it's not an ST) as a race either!

Yeah, he broke the law in the process but if anything does come of it, you can say "I wasn't driving and VW will corroborate and state that the car was in for a service on that day". You can give over any dashcam footage for good measure but it doesn't prove who was or wasn't driving.

I understand that many see it as ok and something they would do but my biggest gripe was that he was in a position of trust and it was my car, not his.
