As I'm sure many of you know, I despise ebay & gumtree as I've had some bad experiences. Last time I used Gumtree is about 8 years ago and due to someone trying it on, I gave up and haven't used it since.

Yesterday however, I had a good look around my house and realised I've got more than a few hundred pounds of unused stuff lying around so I downloaded the Gumtree app and decided to try again. The ease with which I can place ads on there is crazy, it takes about a minute to post an ad now.

I've listed a few things already but this morning before work I found myself looking under the beds (we have those Ottoman beds with storage underneath) for other things to sell. I never sell anything so I have quite a collection.

This could get out of hand

Must admit I am tempted to do the same

Have loads of things in the garage, under the beds, in the loft etc that really are too good to just dump, but take up space.

Once I started digging and evaluating what I could get rid of, I'm amazed at how easily I spend money on crap, really eye opening. Certainly something to be learned here.

So how does the ease at which you can place ads impact your ability to avoid get messed around? Compare and contrast.

I've got loads of stuff I want to sell - Quadcopter, FPV and related stuff, PC bits, random gadgets that lost their novelty. A good couple of grand's worth of kit going by what I paid for it all.

I just haven't bothered trying to sell it because it seems too much hassle dealing with potential scammers.

Why not use OCUK's MM? My limited experience of the MM has been 100% positive.

Completely unrelated. I'm giving it another shot. I am also amazed at how easy it's become to create a listing. Not related.

I might pop some bits on the MM later.

We cleared a lot of junk a while back, at a car boot. Some people seem to make a living at it!
It's quite funny seeing someone haggle over a bit of tat with a 10p price tag.

Might actually try to flog some of my stuff at one of these, that's not a bad idea. Cash and no dodgy comebacks!

I did the purge at the start of the year, actually surprised how much I made for old stuff I'd got laying around.

Cleared just over 1k on Ebay but with their fees I took home around £910.

I sold a lot of junk on ebay a few years ago. Go back it it when I get time.

For the stuff that was too **** to go on Ebay, we did a boot sale last year. It was all absolute junk, only one item sold for more than a fiver and most was £1 or less, but walked away with a little over £250! The stuff that didn't sell then either went to charity or in the bin.

Don't have enough time at the moment for Ebaying, but the junk is building up, especially from the kids' stuff. Need to get back on it.
