I've been trying to find an answer to this online but I can't seem to find one, so best to ask here.

Are there any problems with running a 1070 and a 980 in the same machine?

They aren't connected via SLI obviously. Does the Nvidia driver automatically sort itself out? And does Windows 10 have any issues with it? I've noticed that my Windows starts up a bit slowly with both cards running.

Any help would be great. Thanks

Somethings might be a bit wonky in regards to which gpu is used and what each one does, most likely the one in the second slot will just sit there doing nothing.

Also, why?

I wanted to use the 980 as a driver for my 2nd/3rd monitor and a PhysX card. But I guess it's not really needed and if it's causing issues.

Doesn't your 1070 have enough ports to use at least 4 screens?

Using a separate card for PhysX is pointless now.

It does have enough ports yes. But thinking about it now, I might just sell the 980. If it means no potential issues, it's probably safer and easier.

You can run the 980 for PhysX alongside your 1070 but there is so few games that support PhysX, it is a bit pointless and your 1070 will cope with those that do have PhysX just fine.

Sell the 980 :)
