PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

I've watched 4K streams on my mates Sony set and they are sharper yeah.. but I felt under whelmed. I've just got a Xbox one S and have just got hold of the 4K Mad Max Blu-ray to give it a try. From what I've experienced with streaming and a few reviews I've read it's going to be a big difference in quality along with HDR.

Going to be looking for a 4k set next year when next models are released I think.

Be aware Mad Max isn't true 4K, it's better than bluray, but not what the media is capable of as it wasn't filmed that way.

And that's an example of what 4k and what's true 4k, average Joe consumers will see 4k and always assume it's native or true when it's not, it just boils down to what your happy with. It's like 3d very few films are true 3d and the difference between true 3d and patched on 3d is massive it will be interesting to see if devs and media go to upscale 4k or make it true

I wouldn't use them as coasters, they're the type of thing that increase in value over time... perhaps :) (supposed to have better sound or visuals then blu ray if i remember correctly).

I was joking again, like in my previous post and yes maybe they will increase but I bought them because they were so damn cheap.

I got to see PS4 Pro in action the other day.

They had Horizon: Zero Dawn running on a huge 4K HDR screen.

This isn't a native 4K game, but damn if I could tell there was much difference. The IQ, even on such a large display when getting fairly close to it(just a few feet) was amazingly clean. The whole image was just ultra crisp and cohesive.

They also demonstrated it with HDR off and on. It was also quite impressive. I didn't notice much difference to the darker areas or any real improvements in color production, but the brighter areas(largely just the sky and the god rays and whatnot) certainly got a lot brighter and added a higher, more natural contrast to the scene. It was almost uncomfortably bright, but in a realistic way, as you'd expect were you pointing your head at the bright sun.

I get the feeling HDR implementation in games, at least early on, will probably be limited to certain enhancements rather than a ground-up remastering to fully take advantage of HDR. I've heard improvements in games like Deus Ex and Forza Horizon 3 saw similar limited improvements.

Anyways, yea, if you've got a 4K HDR TV, I'd say you owe it to yourself after spending that money to get a PS4 Pro. It's extremely impressive and probably the nicest I've ever seen a game look in my life. Even if you've just got a 4K TV/monitor, I think it will be well worth it if you're interested in the PS4 library. I'm still strongly getting one even just for my 1080p monitor. IQ improvements should still be extremely good.

Horizon 3 comes alive with HDR It makes a huge difference. Once we get games that gave been made from the ground up with HDR I'm sure it will see a bigger difference. As long as you have a decent HDR screen that is. There is a huge difference between a HDR compatible TV and a HDR 10 or UHD Premium certified screen if you ask me.....

haven't yet got a PS4 should i get a pro

I play on a 10 year old toshiba "HD ready" screen with no plans to upgrade

I have a PS3 and games are painfully slow to load with loads of disk thrashing most annoying....

loled at Bungle....

With the current shambles of trying to find out what HDR will and will not work, I'm going to forget the Pro for now.

I was waiting for 1080p OLED panels to come down in price but they've now started to go up again, presumably as 1080p production ramps down. Think I'm just going to stick it out for another year before going 4k OLED HDR.

I agree. I have no issues with HDR being a top of the range feature however it really grates me that there's hundreds of TV sets that list HDR as a feature and can do at best almost nothing with it and at worst make mid tones actually worse - such a farce. No wonder the world is slow to adapt to new technologies it's a specification minefied

The amount if tv's that claim to have HDR but do little more than convert it to sdr is silly.

I would only buy if a TV was UHD Premium certified at least that way you are guaranteed to get a decent experience. I went from the so called Samsung HDR 6400 to the UHD Premium 7000 series and the difference is staggering.....

Has it been confirmed yet Moogleys that the KS7000 can do HDR with low input lag? (Gaming mode). I keep seeing a lot of talk on AVforums but no actual hard proof as of yet.

I already have a PS4 with Camera, 2 x Joypads and a 2TB HD, My wife is giving £500 to spend on PSVR (I love my wife :D) but this got me thinking, would it be worth selling my current PS4 and gubbins for whatever it's worth (maybe £200 with pads and camera) and starting my first VR experience with a PS4 Pro, PSVR, New Camera, dual move controllers and extra new pad. Will probably have to add another £150 on top, I do like shiny new things but is it worth the extra £150 for the Pro and new controllers and camera over just sticking with what I already Have?

I cant wait for HDR games ;)

My TV is waiting : LG OLED B6

Dolby Vision - YES
HDR10 - YES
UHD Platinum Cert - YES

this is going to be fun :D

Yes you can have game mode with HDR enabled. I don't use game mode for gaming I use Movie and have not noticed any lag or latency issues.
