You know, the recent spat between unilever and tesco was a good thing - I recently picked up a jar of Vegemite, and it's actually much nicer! Not quite as harsh as marmite. So...Seeing as in the near future, as a nation we're going to be so poor that we'll be driving donkeys and carts, while burning our dead for fuel...

What are your alternative brand tips that are just as good, if not better than the actual thing?

...Pepsi? And you should try fentenmans - apparently it's based off of their original formula.

Fentimans is awesome, although probably horifically bad for you.

Tbh as an ex lidl veteran, and many of their brands (as long as you buy non perishables) are pretty good, their nougat pillows for example stomp over kellogs krave (and have been around longer)

When it comes to fresh produce though i tend not to bother skimping, its never worth it.

Branston Baked Beans. Epic beans for a few pennies less than their Heinz overlords.

same here. Heinz are so tasteless I don't know how they ever got market share.

Sainsbury's salad cream and tommy ketchup. Again so much better than Heinz.

In fact, do Heinz actually make anything that is nice?

Still a classic with a couple of slices of white yes WHITE BUTTERED bread people, yeah that's right I'm hardcore. Must be one of the best produced soups in moderns times. Give it up for Heinz Tomato Soup people ! :D

you have partially redeemed yourself after the Branston Beans debacle at the start of this thread.

Branston Beans are vastly superior to Heinz, with exception of them not being a ring pull to open. :(.

Fentimans should be available in any Tesco store and it's a mighty mighty cola.

never even heard of it - where do you get it? (I believe you're a fellow inhabitant of northern Ireland/north or Ireland depending on your preference!) is this a Belfast only drink!? :p

It's normally hanging around the "Grown up soft drink" area in fancy glass bottles with the Shloer .
