The alternative brands thread

never even heard of it - where do you get it? (I believe you're a fellow inhabitant of northern Ireland/north or Ireland depending on your preference!) is this a Belfast only drink!? :p

Ive met it in sainsbury's mainly, they do a cherry variety is quite nice too.

Defo not a belfast only drink given how rarely i'm in that neck of the woods.

Pretty much anywhere mildly pretentious has a likelyhood of selling either fentimans or bundberg (another olde world style of drink)

With the amount of aspartame in Pepsi Max, that'll kill you before you die of thirst. Wouldn't touch any liquid with aspartame in it.

Well my friend, there comes a time when we all have to depart from this green and pleasant land. When that day comes I will be content that my aspartame MAY have played a roll in my death. However, I'm quite sure that my nicotine addiction and chronic alcoholism will have stole the show. Are you ready to depart subbytna? I've been ready from day one and I'll have no regrets. Live long and prosper friend. Or die young and leave a good looking corpse. The choice is yours. ;)

no one dare suggest an alternative to Coca Cola.

their is no substitute.

I didn't like any cola at all until Coke Zero came out, it's the only Cola that tastes any good, not overly sweet like diet coke and has a real clean taste to it.

Heinz beans should be limited to being the alternative to Branstons ! Branstons are far superior!

Asda's highjuice blackcurrant (the proper sugar version) is a decent alternative to Ribena and half the cost.

It's normally hanging around the "Grown up soft drink" area in fancy glass bottles with the Shloer .

I've never heard of it....and I'm in Belfast

ah cheers. just the fact I live in the 'sticks' and have never heard of it made me think it must be one of the cool hip drinks only available in Belfast! must keep my eye out for it

think I've had bundberg, is it like a ginger beer type drink - and minging?

got to say, some aldi products are pretty damn good

Their version of cadburys whole nut is just perfect.
Stackers or aldi pringles are incredible also!
+1 on aldi kraze which is basically krave cereal, but its glorious!

I buy Asda's own Marmite and much prefer it to the original.

Aldi's chocolate is amazing.

Lidl's potato salad is the way forward.

Oh the root beer and ginger beer from bunderberg are rank, but the lemonade and pink lemonade are quite nice in a hipster ish way.

Waitrose Essentials Multigrain Hoops are much nicer than Cheerios with a lot less sugar in them. I also prefer their Weetabix clone.
Marks & Spencer chocolate is excellent. As good as Lindt or Green & Blacks. I also prefer M&S lactose-free milk to the brand leader Lactofree. In fact, most of M&S products are really excellent.

interesting, though I am trying to imagine how anything can be nice in a hipsterish way - as long as I don't have to wear skinny jeans and flip flops I may try and seek these fanciful drinks out!

It's the price that makes you feel hipsterish :p

Just ditch the flip flops. You'll get away with the skinny jeans as long as you never say out loud any of the following:

1. Heinz Baked beans are better than Branston Baked Beans

2. I Shave my head with a children's toy

3. Israel has a right to defend it's self

4. Reverse racism is a lie

5. SJW's are all on the left

6. Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town

7. DPD suck

8. Death to murderers

9. Trump can govern

10 Hillary lost an e-mail somewhere
