*** Nintendo Switch ***

Why are people getting excited about this? It's the old bait and switch method.
  • Those renders are definitely not going to be representative of the visual fidelity of the console.
  • Games will be compromised for shallow portable games.
  • Games will be compromised as above but also due to weak hardware contraints.
  • No new games specific for this console from Nintendo on the horizon.
  • The portable nature of it will be destroyed if it costs as much as Wii U.
  • Yay more backcatalog games for Nintendo to resell...
  • No other media support, so just streaming services?

Yes I already own:
3DS XL
Wii U
Wii
GBA
Gamecube
N64
GB
NES

That's an assumption. A fair one, but still an assumption.

Games will be compromised for shallow portable games.

How will it? It isn't a 3DS. its a fully fledged console that you can take with you.

Games will be compromised as above but also due to weak hardware contraints.

Again, another assumption.

No new games specific for this console from Nintendo on the horizon.

Except for the Mario title we saw in the video, right? :p

The portable nature of it will be destroyed if it costs as much as Wii U.

Again, how? What about people who buy it because they want a console and don't care about the portability? There will be people who do this.

No other media support, so just streaming services?

We don't know. Nothing has been said. The announcement isn't even 24hrs old :)

Blatantly a Sony fanboy  :p

I don't see this as a handheld first, console second. But the other way around. Many people making big statements and claims about the console when very little information is known apart from what the idea is, the name and what it looks like and what ever has been torn apart from the video.

It's too early to make these statements. We need to keep an open mind. Give it a couple of weeks and the leaks will start happening everywhere and we'll know way more about it :)

Also works wonders for the man at home who doesnt have a man cave and cant game whilst the Mrs watches TV. Great move being able to undock and carry on playing when Corrie comes on! :D :p
For me, that's a huge advantage, and I assumed it to be a huge market, but when I talk about game streaming on the XBox One On Reddit etc, I don't get the feeling many people use it!

For me this is a great evolution of the Wii I, and I'd use the Wii U loads more if I could use it in every room, and a little more furthermore if you could take it outside the house

Good! I don't want digital with no resale value.

Digital would be fine if they cut out the middleman price. Sell games to the consumers that the store would normally pay for them to only sell them for double that price to the consumer for just stocking the game.

BF1 was 70 Euro last night on PSN I popped down to Argos and picked it up for 56 Euro.

Just need to have reasonable prices and digital will kick off and take all the game shops down with it which makes the consumer win in the end.

An assumption based on historic fact, every console launch shows better graphics in promo vids than what actually comes out.

How will it? It isn't a 3DS. its a fully fledged console that you can take with you.
Pretty sure rumor mill, which actually has been on point about the NX, thinks this is a replacement for the 3DS/Gameboy line.
Again, another assumption.
I'm allowed to make my own assumptions. :D But again, Wii, littered with shovelware because of hardware constraints.
Again, assumption based on fact: the Wii U was left to the dust by developers because of it's unique feature: the game pad, which only one player could have. Many games either failed to make good use of it, or sucked because of it (Star Fox...). For multiplayer this meant one person might get the interesting or boring parts of the game (Rayman).

Except for the Mario title we saw in the video, right? :p
Oh, another Mario game. Apart from newer graphics, how many times will he need to stop Bowser/other various villains with the same old platforming?

Again, how? What about people who buy it because they want a console and don't care about the portability? There will be people who do this.
Not every audience will be catered for, it's Nintendo, they can be really stubborn over silly things.

We don't know. Nothing has been said. The announcement isn't even 24hrs old :)

I have a 2nd hand psone if that counts? :D

I don't see this as a handheld first, console second. But the other way around.

I'll just stick to what I've got and probably skip this one as it looks pretty disappointing in terms of upgrading.

Of course it is?! This could be the current younger generations Ocarina of Time.

younger generation rather play GTA or witcher 3 tbh or better yet pokemon Go or whatever the current FAD is in mobike gaming.

Honestly handheld gaming is dead.

Nintendo should have gone up against the ps4/xbone and make a new console that can play 4k mario etc.

Nintendo should also try and create a new franchise instead of rehashing mario and zelda all the time.

People moan how theres tons of sequals on xbone/ps4 yet it seems ok for Nintendo to rehash Mario to death?

There is far more new unique titles coming out/out already on xbone/ps4 like division, last guadian etc etc.

I see more fresh titles coming from xbone/ps4 then nintendo...

I'm really excited about more offical release stuff. I want to know the definte specs of both of what the dock does.

Also more Mario is never a bad thing, NEVER! Also more Zelda please.

The hype never dies with big Mario/Zelda games. We want it, Nintendo gives. Stop being so grumpy get on the hype train :D

For me the hype died long ago with mario. Zelda could be more appealing but Mario?

im not 5 anymore.

Umm nvidia shield/ ps4 remote play anyone?

But this is done right. The PS vita thing is awful really - I've had one since release btw.

Plus you can't play Mario on it ;)

Shame I can play Mario for hours, and hours. It just ooozes quality everytime. I don't need to wait on day one patches, or new DLC or whatever it work straight out the box just like everything Nintendo produces.

It's really not that great a feature. TV stands/cabinets are terrible for Wifi. My Wii U to gamepad has dead zones (my walls are paper thin) and is affected by my media pc's 5ghz wifi even when the pad and Wii U are right next to each other.

As many times as that simpleton blonde airhead lets herself get caught by a dinosaur who clearly has a thing for blondes of course :D

Hang on, maybe Peach has a case of stockholm syndrome which keeps causing these messes? :D

Technically, I know what you're saying, but for my lifestyle situation it's a game changer. I soley bought the Wii U as I could play it on and off the TV, and I play 80% of my Xbox One through game streaming, it just fits my way of life better than using the big tv
