It's a strange feeling to own (well 40% so far) something!

2 days until I pick up the keys!!! So excited

I have about 10 deliveries scheduled to the house on Thursday, all the furniture. It's going to feel like Christmas!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Got the keys!!

Just back from measuring up so I can do accurate plans and work out the all important home networking.

Rach'n'Jay are lovely people.

Remembered to take a pic, but only of the garden. Will probably do a log thing. Games room at the back with a workshop which was one of the criteria.

Congratulations! Always a bonus buying of a nice sellers ours were fantastic overall other then delays.

We were about 2 weeks away from exchange and our buyer decide to drop their offer by £13k :(

Have told them to stick to the original price or our flat goes back on the market today at 4pm. So frustrating!

Finally got the survey back today and *I think* everything looks ok.

The house was built in 1980s and extended around 8 years ago, the surveyor picked up on pointing issues along with a few roof tiles need replacing/ridge tiles refitting? Are they fairly cheap things to get fixed as it's not widespread but just in a few places it looks.

It seems like every issue or possible issue they spot goes along with "get a professional to quote for this" but I'm wondering is it normal to have multiple people attending the property prior to purchase to inspect/quote on these things? Or are they just standard 30 year old house issues, if they are issues at this stage.

We were supposed to exchange & complete at the end of September, but the FTB at the bottom of the chain then announced his mortgage wasn't ready - not sure how on earth we got this far before this gem surfaced.

Got told all was sorted on Tuesday this week and now we are just having days of zero progress due to.... well no reason anyone will admit.

Starting to lose patience. Was told yesterday we would definitely exchange then and complete on Friday next week... at 16:30 I was told the entire chain was waiting on the solicitor for the FTB to confirm and he was refusing to do so simply saying 'we aren't ready' and refusing to elaborate.

Just totally fed up now. I'm waiting for 'his mortgage has fallen through.'

Congrats! Onwards and upwards!

Looks like I'm about to to leap onto this bandwagon. We've had a full asking price offer on our house on Sunday, after it went on the market on Friday. Estate agent is doing their thing, as they are expecting another few offers this morning.
We've already had an offer on a house accepted, so hopefully this afternoon the ball will start it's slow drift downhill. I've never brought or sold a house before, so its going to be an interesting ride.

Bought you mean. :D

Buyer has requested to view the house again, this is after the offer has been accepted. Is this normal? I was expecting them to wish to view it again later in the process, to measure up, but so early was a surprise.

Every 30 year old house will have a few minor issues. Unless it is major I would tend to leave it unless you want to try and lever a price reduction, but of course this is at risk of annoying the seller ans possibly losing the house. They are generally sold as seen unless there is something structural.

Most of the housing stock round here is from the 1890's and they sell like hotcakes. Every single of of them upon being surveyed will have issues. We even live in an area with 'moderate to high ground subsidence'. Solicitor asked me whether we had experienced any recently (I'm selling), I felt like going back and stating that a 125 year old house still standing upright on a hill is pretty much not going anywhere. :D

Just had a survey done on an 80's house (to buy) and apparently they metals struts between the cavity wall are prone to rust, but the surveyor could not check so how do they think they can be checked without drilling into the wall? Which seller would be happy with such s stupid thing to happen? I just left it.

Thanks PapaLazaru, we've gone back with a few questions via the solicitors but more to do with servicing boilers/electrics etc so that when we move in everything is freshly certified and checked.

Waiting for our solicitor to read/amend a draft contract so hopefully that doesn't take too long!

Yes. We saw ours a few times before we completed. It helped us visualise where things would go. We couldn't remember every aspect though and seeing it in person is different from looking at pictures you may have taken.

I guess they could be comparing it to another or they could be bringing someone with them so they can see it too. You can set the time to suit you but don''t refuse as you may lose the sale

Already given the permission. They are bringing their parents. Can see why nervous is mentioned on the thread title. I really want the house we are moving to.
