Apple to Introduce New Macs at October 27 Event

Might wait for the updated iMac/MacPro whenever they come out. Tbh my MBP spends 98% of the time in clamshell so I might as well just get a desktop!
Would like the 12'' to get this update though as I love this laptop and the current price point is really good

So...the iMac is now more expensive from Apple than it is from John Lewis...by £250...

I know it hasn't been refreshed in a while... but i fancy one... and at £1599 its still a good value machine right?

Hahahahaha no... No it's not worth it for more than it cost yesterday?!

Jesus no wonder apple are loaded... Buy it elsewhere?

I'm in the market for a new laptop and was waiting for these... but £1700 for the basic 13" with the touch display is laughable.

I had a play with a surface today and it seems really nice.

So now I'm thinking of Surface Book or Razer... not a big fan of the XPS series at the moment, the rubbery plastic finish doesn't feel nice.

Seen the fancy one with the dial?

Still cannot believe it is a Microsoft product.

But not exactly "cheap" either, it rivals an iMac price. Granted, an entire touchscreen is pretty epic.

Ouch, those prices! Macbook went up in price too, no?

Has the Macbook Air been refreshed? The price certainly has, it's gone up by £200

It's an interesting one. I usually upgrade every time they refresh simply because the cost of the refresh against the resell value of my old unit means constant new stuff for not much outlay.

This refresh though - wow. It's a proper chunk of cash isn't it.

The odd thing is that earlier today I would have had zero idea of how much as Dell XPS or Lenovo Carbon X1 cost - or what you got for your money.

Now, I'm totally all over them working out the various cost comparisons.

The prices are really uncomfortable.

I imagine anyone running the old trashcan Mac Pro must have completely written off Apple after tonight. Not a single mention of any other macs.

They better switch the iPhone to USB-C next year. It's ludicrous having all these different ports.

Touchbar looks a bit gimmicky. Might be okay in pro applications with practice, but tbh I navigate the keyboard and touchpad just fine without taking my eyes off the screen. Not sure I want another screen below my screen.

Doubt I'll be upgrading my Mid 2012 512GB 16GB machine any time soon with those bonkers prices.

£1900 for the entry level 15" model!! Are they having a laugh?

Was so hyped pre event

* Touchbar looks alright but most demos were bad. The PS demo was such a waste, a lot of super simple tasks like creating a new layer took 3 steps on the touchpad, why would anyone want to do that over 1 shortcut.
* Price hurts. Honestly still £180 for 8GB for ram were the market price on ram is direct cheap at the moment you can but 32GB of faster ram
* Love the 4 Type-C ports.
* Still has headphone port so a type-C port isn't wasted on that
* All ports charge which is useful

Overall a decent package with far too high a price. I got my 13" 256/8gb laptop for around £1025 and something similar is now £1700~ ouch. Think I'll wait for next gen as I really wanted to upgrade too a 15" with 512GB SSD but the price is getting silly.

Early 2011 with self upgraded 750gb ssd and 16gb with high res screen. Think I paid 2.2k when they came out new. The new prices are very steep. Will hold on even longer to mine now.
