Which software do you guys use to manage your bank accounts / spending ?

Excel again for managing the basic expenses a month to keep a track of how much I can save, pay off debt , DD's etc..

I'm glad it doesn't really autoupdate as seeing what I spend my disposable income would just make me a bit depressed haha, but that's why its there, disposable!

Otherwise just log on occasionally , I like HSBC's fast balance button on their app so you can get a quick view on whats in your account without having to physically log in, really handy!

Excel

Dont need Wife 1.0. Also least if Excel crashes you have auto recovery. If Wife 1.0 crashes you loose EVERYTHING!!!!

Same here. Does your have the same as mine, came with the optional Nagging 2.0 which you apparently cant remove once installed!

I think mine has the updated drivers... :(

But with this new update... The boss lady is letting me spend 2k on a new mountain bike :D

There must be a leniency driver or something that I wasn't previously aware of?

Excel.

I'm proper anal about it too. On the 1st of each month I note everything we've spent and categorize it all. Bit of a ballache, but it's so handy for predicting things and I know i'll never go in the red by mistake.

I bet if you go down this route (or any kind of monitoring system) you'll save a chunk as well when you realise what you're spending on certain items.

I've used "You need a budget" before whilst looking how much I can afford for a mortgage. It works if you keep on top of it but not so much if you let it slip.

This. Why do you need an app to manage money? Are kids so spoonfed these days that they have no sense of how to look after money?

It was easier in the olden days, getting paid monthly was ;

Week 1 : Loaded
Week 2 : Bugger, the bills and mortgage just went out
Week 3 : Skint
Week 4 : Only another 7 days till i'm loaded again

Didn't need an app for that :D

excel. paid 4 weekly which is annoying, so have all my costs for the month in the sreadsheet, then transfer some to saving, then transfer rest to monzo card, that way what ever is on the monzo card is food/general spending for the month.

found apps totally useless for those of us on 4 weekly pay.

I use MoneyWiz 2 on my phone and the iPad.

It's not without its faults and the Windows version is rubbish but I like being able to forecast into the future and see if my main account will go into a negative balance due to scheduled transactions.
