Moment in a movie that scared you most

That Mulholland Drive scene just scared the **** out of me!

Ive seen the film a long time ago, but could not remember what happened in that scene.

Went to the cinema with my wife the other night and asked for 2 tickets, the guy behind the counter asked for £24 which scared the living crap out of me so wont be going back there.
 
The original Psycho - the private detective walking up the stairs to the landing and then Norman Bates dressed as Mother suddenly runs across the shot to stab him. The camera angle is perfect and there's no music or sound effects; a genius piece of direction and makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it!

Chestburster scene in Alien, me and a friend from school snuck into the cinema & saw it when it first came out, we where only 14, I damn near leapt out of my seat when the alien burst out of John Hurts chest, come to think of it the whole film pretty much got my knees knocking. :p
 
Agree about the sloth scene in Seven. Also recently most of Sinister I had to watch behind my hands.

Always loved the rolling kettle drums in the shining. The jump cuts with the creepy twin girls sometimes standing, sometimes chopped up is really unsettling as well
 
The bit at the end of Blair Witch where the bloke is stood in the corner facing the wall. Couldn't sleep aftewards

My scariest scene is also from Alien since watching it when I was about 9/10 years old. The scene when Dallas is in the ducts, the build up is excellent, you know he's got no way out. Always put myself in his head and I know i'd be crying like a little girl, lol.

One thing that has slightly ruined this on re-releases of Alien in HD is that you can see the Alien quite clearly just before he shines the light on it, on old grainy VHS it wasn't as apparent.
 
Even though it's only rated 15, it will have to be Cube Zero, the last film of the Cube series. There's a bit where one of the victims is sprayed with acid. The acid looked like water and everything seemed normal for about a minute, then he starts to dissolve over the next few minutes. It's most graphic scene I've seen for a horror and it gave me a recurring nightmare for the next 5 months. Far worse than Silence of the Lambs, Dusk Til Dawn, Nightmare on Elm Street etc.

That is the film with the weird baddy with the monocle / eyemask? Surely he off sets any scariness?? :p

I think The Grudge was the only film to really scare me. It's just so ominous right from the off. Yes I know Sarah Michelle Gellar is in it... no off setting there I assure you :eek:
 
For some reason I decided to watch the remake of The Ring, alone, in the dark. I knew nothing of the original. This scene stuck with me.

Yeah, tried headphones also. I think it's because I was brought up on horror films. Parents took me into the cinema to watch jaws when I was 5, watched the horror double bill on TV as a kid every week, first 3 films I saw on video when they first came out was the exorcist, the burning and the evil dead.

I may just be desensitised.
