Do you ever get wound up by knowledge you think people should have?

One could also ask why it is that the younger generation seem to lack the ability to simple DIY tasks where to the older generation nothing was too difficult. We all have different levels of knowledge and it does not make someone less intelligent because they do not know something I do and vice versa.

I'm guilty of this. I'm a problem solver generally and deal with situations outside my comfort zone on a daily basis but when it comes to DIY, i'll overcomplicate it in my head and end up paying someone else. Realistically all I'd need to do is spend a bit of time googling/researching and getting my hands dirty.

1) Being able to manage finances, even on a basic level.

I could tell you, to within a tenner the balances in all my current accounts, my paypal accounts, the balance on my credit cards and what I have in savings and where, from memory and after a month of not looking at any of them.

Yet I know people who get paid weekly and cant even budget until the next week.

I actually don't really track my money. I go through phases. I haven't logged on to my internet banking for about 2 weeks, so no idea how much/little is in there.

I don't get wound up or else I wouldn't post on this forum with some of the pathetic questions posted every single day which makes me think what IDIOTS there are here......and then I read some of my posts and think hang on, people in glass houses and all that. :D

Have you ever been asked a rhetorical question like someone says to you: "I was speaking to Dave the other day, he said he didn't know what currency they use in Turkey. can you believe that? What a total idiot, how can you not know that?"

... but you don't know that either

So you just go "oh my god, yea, what an idiot... " and hope they move on and not somehow see you don't know either

Human nature. It's like how you phrase the question "what do you think of Dave" to most people I could get 2 answers, from the same person, based on the inflection I use often. People are pack animals :)

Yep very true. Good point - I don't check often as I know whatever amount is in there I can cope. My main current account sometimes slips into the over draft but that costs almost nothing so not an issue and only on the expensive months.

Pay day sorts it all out

This doesn't annoy me anymore because I have no hope for most people. I've accepted that the world is made up of many, many idiots so I just let them get on with it.

Someone came in to work for an interview for a promotion and had to ask someone else how to tie his tie. He's mid 30's. I can appreciate that we have a casual dress code so no ties required but I can't believe someone can reach adulthood and not know how to tie a tie.

I don't and I'm 30. I wear ties for weddings and funerals so not that often, plus my wife does it for me anyway so no need to learn.

People have different knowledge levels and ways of attempting things. It varies vastly between both people and generations.

I worked in retail for many years to support my way through university and you can imagine I got to enjoy all walks of life. Sometimes things are frustrating but some people simply are afraid of breaking things, others are lazy and finally you have the absolute no hopers people who you legitimately wonder how they get out of bed and dress themselves each morning.

On the other side though there are many things people don't know because they have not tried them or simply don't have that general knowledge. Reading through this thread I couldn't specifically say when the second world war started down the exact year and month I only know roughly, there are also many other things I doubt I know. But I will always experiment and found out how or why if something is relevant to me at that moment.

Sadly there amongst the general populous are many idiots, just get on with your life try not to get too involved and hopefully these people will keep out of your way.

My mrs takes antibiotics every time she has a cold. .What's worse is that her mother who is a GP prescribes them for her!

This is the kind of behaviour that has hiked up antibiotic resistance to crisis levels. You'd think they'd know better! It's a perfect fit for this thread though. Antibiotics fight bacteria, not viruses. As colds are viruses, antibiotics won't do a thing. This sort of information used to be common knowledge.
