Picked up something new again.

It's pretty good in the dry and in the right hands. Aha, the perfect excuse to post this again:

Guessing ring taxi? Or just very talented driver. Goes to show what a handful they are as that is on the dry on the ring. Bumps really upset the car, but in a way it adds to the fun. But I'd take E60 M5 over one any time, just for that engine though the new M5 is better in every other way, but the V10, oh the V10.

It's not the ring taxi, it's LHD and only takes three passengers.

It's my car but I'm passenger, my friend is driving. I'm almost a minute slower in the same car.

The guy behind the passenger is Tim, he builds data centres and definitely regretted getting in that car.

First, wow for letting your mate drive your car like that.
Second, he can drive, great pedalling. :)

Why are cars like these not 4 wheel drive ?

Surely you need 4 wheel drive in a car with this much power.

Horses for courses. Obviously AWD will make the car faster in the hands of an average driver but at the expense of involvement and grin-inducing oversteer. ISTR a rumour that the next M5 is going to be AWD?

It is and it will become the norm. For road use when you get to this level of power 4WD is a must really.

Indeed he can drive! - not sure I'd want to go for a balls out blast with a car full of passengers and I doubt I'd want to be one of them TBH but fair play for letting him drive like that, I rarely let anybody drive my car in anything other than a normal manner with one notable exception but he's done racing over the years and I have faith in his ability...

I rarely let anybody drive my car
Remember back when I was 16 years old and one my mates had a new motorbike (KLR250) which he let one his mates ride and who then done a wheelie lost control and wrote it off into a gate..

My mate dad told the other kid parents that they only had to pay 50% of the cost as his son was half to blame for being a fool and leting other people ride his motorbike.

The issue with this really is why are people buying these cars? Is it to go as fast as they possibly can from maximum possible traction at all times regardless of power level or conditions?

Or is it because they are fun to drive?

If it's the latter, why is more power and 4wd desireable?
