Hypersenationalism and the media

I dont know about anyone else, but in recent years I am struggling with believing anything 100% I see in the media.

There is such a trend of hypersensationalised storylines, and exaggerations, its quite hard to actually read between the lines for the truth.

It was getting worse with the US media coverage recently, and in the UK I see a masking of truth too, and in DE we have issues with stuff blatantly not even being reported (dont need to go into too many details, Im sure you all know it was migrant related)

What is the future for this? We have fake Facebook news feeds low intelligence people believe, and even the "real" traditional media is full of BS... What does the future hold with this total lack of credibility in the media... I think its quite dangerous, and high percentages of people are being grossly misinformed about world events, and various new stories, distorting the average humans ability to gauge exactly what is going on in real life.

It seems to be the age of gross misinformation, with no real consequences for the perpetrators.

If you believed everything you were bombarded with, one might think that we all live in racist, misogynist, homophobic, ultra violent, rape culture post apocolypse, and I think this is actually affecting societies mental health on a massive scale. Such gross distortions of reality on a never ending basis must surely be detrimental to society.

Frightening.

Stop watching it.

Find alternative news sites. Any news sites the establishment or mainstream media calls something negative. That's where you should get your news.

The newspapers and media are only about one thing now.

Money.

Everything else is circumstantial, so do what any other normal person does and just troll the comments section ( I recommend the Daily Fail and the Guardian) and take everything else with a pinch of salt.

I watched ITV news while having dinner at my Grans a few years back, they were reporting on some protestors who were in Leeds for similar reasons to the Wallstreet protests which were happening at the time. The only thing I learned is that they left some rubbish behind and disrupted people, they didn't give a single detail about what their protest was about. You really have to read stories and make your own conclusions rather than being taken in by the hyperbole and half-truths

Not another CT thread !

Do not get me wrong, I look for the real truth as much as I can, but with all sides being untrustworthy it is exhausting.

Also, many people are not intelligent enough to think for themselves, and we see this in the US, and it must be the same in most other western countries also, that have this strange fake reality presented by the "media" be it mainstream news or even independant internet based news.

It is almost enough to just give up, and rely only on what is in front of your very eyes! (which is what many of us did in Koln) There seems no real ambition to present facts any more, just fast rush SENSATION, regardless of content. By the time it is out, or the real facts come to light, it is too late, and minds have been exposed. Everything is sensationalised to the absolute maximum, ALL the time, its not normal, and I think it is affecting peoples psyche and mindset into being reactionary and sensationalist themselves.

Why would they be correct instead?

Every site has a bias despite their own claims. Only way you can remotely get a grasp of the truth is to read sites with opposing biases and pick out the parts that are the same on both.

Must admit I'm reading less and less of the news these days.

OP judging from the undertone in your posts, I suggest the website 'Britain First' for all of your news needs.

What would you say is a reliable source of news?

I use http://www.zerohedge.com/ as my main online news site.

Zero Hedge is total garbage.

OP: can you provide any links in particular of "hypersensationalised storylines, and exaggerations"? I'm not saying I disagree - but I'd like to know what you consider these to be.

It baffles me that people don't read several sources/versions of a news peice, let alone read them properly.
It's disgusting that the media can get away with so much, so we must learn and really dive into a peice of news. Alternative news sources are much better, usually, maybe.

Also, some people are just simple and take a headline for what it is and that just sells it.

The issue here is that 60% of the population think every news story in The Daily Mail or similar is gospel. The same 60% that voted brexit. For this reason alone, there should be tougher control on what lies they can and can't spout.

A lot of people are finally realising the media lies to them, after the heavily left-dominated media in the US was completely embarassed by Trump's victory. This is a good thing, it might help people to stop believing everything they read or see on TV.
