Former Cuba leader Fidel Castro dead aged 90

Can't believe he lived this long.

'The Company' by Robert Littell is a great book to read if you're interested in espionage during the time of Fidel Castro and the Bay of Pigs, by the way.

Last of the 'old guard' communist dictators to go and I bet there will be celebrations in Miami.

He did a great deal for his country. Cuba before he took over was a fiefdom of the Mafia with a puppet dictator. Cuba was regarded as part of the American Empire which is one reason why they have taken such a pathological hatred to Cuba. What they did of course was ensure that the people rallied round Castro. I don't know whether America was dumb in not understanding a simple truth that a people will rally round their leader in the face of external opposition by a country or whether they did it for domestic politics. Given that it had happened in WW2 with Churchill, Stalin and Hitler it goes point to domestic politics.

Sad day.

The man who launched a thousand tshirts. Mixed views but nevertheless RIP.

You meah Che?

I agree. A sad day.

The why some asked is simple. Today died the only one who stick the finger(s) to the US, not wanting his country to be a colony of the corporations and rich elite mafia, like the rest of our countries have become.
