New £5 note angers vegans and vegetarians

Another said: "So unnecessary in 2016! I will no longer be accepting these notes. Ironic I donated my first fiver to a Vegan sanctuary."

*cough* couple of questions...

1. Is it not going to be difficult going through life refusing one particular piece of currency?

2. WTF is a vegan sanctuary?!

I'm not a Vegan but I understand their point of view, I think if there's a valid reason for using animal products in the notes though that needs to be communicated across

I am a vegetarian and I do not give a flying ****. If every offended flowery fanny wants to dispose their £5 notes, I am happy to accept them all.

Given that you don't own the notes, and they're just contracts promising to pay the bearer the sum of £5 then the vegetarians/vegans shouldn't take issue - they're not theirs.

i guess they should avoid all plastics then - because this ingredient is used in small amounts in pretty much all of them.

Not to mention plastics are oil based, oil comes from crushed dinosaurs (amongst other things) pretty sure dinosaurs count as animals...

Meat is meant to be eaten, the name itself has "eat" in it. This fact cannot be avoided.

Your move, veggies/vegans.
